He has had some injuries, but he would be cheaper than Mosley.

Yeah, I’ve been thinking about him on something like a 1 year deal for something like $5-7 million. He’s a terrific player when healthy.

Steelers don't have any luck taking chances on players with health concerns.

Always seems to bite them in the ass.

I was thinking something similar when I saw this thread.

It's that age-old quandary between rolling the dice on someone with injury history but potential to be spectacular, and going for another Jon Bostic.

I hear you, but he’s a true talent. Using PFF grades as a subjective barometer, 3 of the last 4 years he finished with a season grade higher than Mosley has ever received, and higher than all but one of KJ Wright’s season’s. A true top 10 LB who can go sideline to sideline and cover (PFF had him ranked #10 last year). He’s a guy who would likely be in line for something like a 5 year, $55-60 million deal if he didn’t have an injury history. If you bring him in, and he has a relatively healthy season, he’s a missing puzzle piece for the defense. We will have cap space to work with.

Missed 13 games in the last 2 years and only played all 16 once in his 4 year career, no thanks. I think a few months ago his name was brought up and this was pointed out.

If they sign a player like Hicks, they should still draft a ILB.

Would be nice but with him we could end up with Vince and bostic again. I'd much rather see kendricks and buccannon.

To be fair, injuries were a concern with Bostic and he stayed healthy. Sure he wasn't particularly good, but he played.

To also be fair, it's not as if Shazier was the picture of durability.

Yeah that is fair and nobody can predict injuries but when a guy is hurt 3/4 years that has me worried. There are a lot of options out there both in FA and the draft, IMO we should look elsewhere.

I had him on my fantasy team for a bit. I'd like the pickup if they went that way.

Not really, even if they signed Hicks they would probably still draft a ILB, they can release Bostic and Matakevich.

In that scenario I would try to bring back Fort as well. Matakevich may be a good guy to retain as a special teamer. He’s pretty good there.

Rather them draft a stud ILB in the 1st. Need a free agent corner opposite Haden, a proven starter. This is where I would spend the money. Hicks won't sign a one year deal.
