Jon Gruden is suing NFL

Jon Gruden is suing the NFL and Roger Goodell, according to his attorney Adam Hosmer-Henner, who released this statement: “Jon Gruden has filed suit against the National Football League and Commissioner Goodell in the Eighth Judicial District Court in Clark County, Nevada. The complaint alleges that the defendants selectively leaked Gruden's private correspondence to the Wall Street Journal and New York Times in order to harm Gruden's reputation and force him out of his job. There is no explanation or justification for why Gruden's emails were the only ones made public out of the 650,000 emails collected in the NFL's investigation of the Washington Football Team or for why the emails were held for months before being
released in the middle of the Raiders' season.” In response, NFL spokesman @nflprguy announced this: “The allegations are entirely meritless and the NFL will vigorously defend against these claims.”

LOL this is awesome, now the NFL is going to have to show ALL the emails and responses from other people in those conversations. Certain owners are sweating today

 

Good for him! Seems suspicious that his are the only emails released. Couldn’t possibly have anything to do with him referring to the commish as a f**

 

Hopefully Gruden will pursue this as far as he can , and not settle out of court..... i would love if somehow Goofdell came out looking like trash.

 

I have zero sympathy for Gruden but he has a point here about how the whole thing was handled. It looks to me like he was the sacrificial lamb and the NFL are hoping the whole Washington scandal goes away now that somebody with a high profile has lost their job.

 

You would think they thought about that before hand, or Did they just think He would take it lying down???

 

They burned the evidence once before, probably thought they could do so again. This time though those emails aren’t just sitting on one camera’s SD card.

 

They will probably pay him off before it gets to court

Doesn’t matter. Why go quietly? If there is a big payoff to be had from the NFL why not go after it? As much as I can’t stand Gruden he got screwed here and he is trying to rattle some cages. The NFL won’t want the bad PR and will want to end it as soon as they can.

Gruden has money but the NFL has more and can string it out and grind him down. Gruden knows this as well and will take the money once he has made enough noise, probably an undisclosed amount, just watch.

I honestly don’t know if the Raiders are paying him the balance of his contract but given that he resigned I assumed not

 

If he wanted revenge he could do the talk show circuit, write a reveal-all book, whatever will get him the most attention and make the league most uncomfortable. I’ll bet he knows where a lot of bodies are buried.

The lawsuit was predictable and is about money, nothing more.

 

Him talking **** means nothing. Him showing the actual emails sent from other owners and execs laughing along and supporting his comments is something totally different. The NFL really F’d up because they’re going to look 10X worse if as I suspect they singled out Gruden.

 

We will see. I’d be very surprised if it gets to trial personally. It would be great if it did.

 

I'm not so sure. Chucky is pretty stubborn. I mean, his reputation is ruined no matter how this trial goes and I'm sure he realizes that. I think he won't be happy with anything less than a ton of cash and Goodell on a platter with an apple in his mouth. I hope he succeeds. Goodell has done right by the owners, but he meddles too much in business that he should stay out of. Like, anything related to New England's various cheating scandals.
