Agreed on all of it. The announcers absolutely got that wrong on the ball behind Johnson in the end zone. That was Pickett's fault. He saw it too late. By that point, he had to throw it behind Johnson rather than lead him into a defender. Johnson criticized Pickett for it after the game, too. He said "we" need to see it rather than naming Pickett, but the meaning was clear.

the offside call reeked of the female ref trying to "prove herself" at best, point shaving at worst. sorry, but i've never seen that penalty called on any level of football in all my years of watching football. refs make mistakes, we all saw it last week with the bad spot to end the game.. this was just a case of the ref wanting to call a penalty for the sake of calling a penalty.

Not sure why DJ was not ready to go when the game began. Didn't he drop another pass 2 plays later, and then on the next series he ran the wrong route all resulting in 3 and outs?

 

No wonder they didn’t show this on TV. No replay at all. Very difficult to accept.

 

The weather played a part in his first drop. He has to catch it but the moisture playa a factor he should have overcome and anticipated.

 

I see it all the time when questionable plays are never replayed. Especially on stadium video screens going against the opposing team.

 

Yes, he dropped another one on third down on that opening series, though that one would have been wiped out by a holding penalty if he had caught it. I'm not sure if he ran the wrong route or Pickett read the play incorrectly on the other play you referenced.

 

It just feels more and more like sports entertainment rather than an actual athletic contest. I can accept that the Steelers have many problems and that they are not a Super Bowl team, but let them play and see what happens. These subjective calls are bad and then they do not allow any dissent.

 

Like in Blazing Saddles, they should fine Johnson for laying down on the job. I'm surprised he stayed standing up long enough to get fined. He was on the ground half the game. We should start a Kickstarter campaign to buy him some cleats

 

I'm not from the US. I have zero interest in listening to a Senator from Louisiana. I don't care what he sounds like, but I can guarantee you this. I was taught at a young age about double negatives. It is not a cultural thing, it is an education thing. it has nothing to do with culture, race or whether someone sounds like me. Education and the ability to communicate effectively does matter to me, particularly when that person has apparently gone through the higher education process. Maybe it doesn't matter to you.

As for teams beating top teams, that's been happening since the beginning of sports. There's no new trends, upsets have always happened. As for Denver being a failing team, I'm not too sure where you get that from. Their owner is worth like $60 billion and the team is worth plenty as well. They are not failing at all. Teams have ups and downs, it doesn't mean they are failing. Last time I checked the Broncos are top 5 in attendance.

You also clearly don't understand sports betting. The underdog winning doesn't mean everyone wins a bunch of money. Not everybody bets on the underdog. Betting lines are set to encourage half the people to bet on the underdog and half to bet on the favourite. If that isn't happening, Vegas will adjust the line to encourage more balanced betting. They do this so that large payouts like you described don't happen.

As for your crazy conspiracy theories. You realize the players would need to be in on it too. You don't think out of all the players, somebody is going to talk? You really think all the players and coaches are on board and nobody talks about it?

 

What is there to explain? It was a bad call. I can point to hundreds of others in every sport at every level. It's quite the jump to conclude that one or more bad calls mean the game is fixed.

 

The topic of football is not what you brought up when you started the conversation about speaking ability! You went there dude! You not me, you!

 

Then explain the offside call, it was clearly made up for all to see or not see as it was not replayed. Players don’t need to be it on it, they are not allowed to talk about it! And did you hear what Johnson said???

 

Most people don't learn how to speak to others in school. They learn it from the people around them. I know some very intelligent people with poor conversational habits.
