The only guy in the NFL that Ray Lewis was legitimately afraid of! This is a great addition. The guy's presence alone will have a positive impact on Jarvis. Make no mistake about it, Joey will be working with JJ on technique, I don't care if he is only an "assistant".

One thing that hit me was, that this could be a sign that Butler is moving up or out next year depending on LeBeau and his decision!

Peezy will be a great motivator for sure... I was just thinking...

I bet Farrior would be a great coach, he made all the calls on our defense for years. I bet he has a wealth of knowledge he could pass on to younger LB's...

I love this hire. Heck if things are that bad at half he might just suit up. I hope he brings the crazy and nasty back to our LB's. People used to fear our D. I for one am hopeful that happens this upcoming year... Welcome back Peezy! :)

I really believe he's have destroyed Lewis if he was on the team when he broke Mendenhall's collar bone.

When I fist read this I was like "Whaaaa??" then I was like "Hmmmm..." then I was like "YEAH!" THEN I read a story on Steelers Depot that said after one year of his tutelage his players sack totals went through the roof and that the Steelers are actually looking at one of his players as maybe a late round gem. I always thought it would be cool to have Kevin Greene here because he was probably my fave of his era but Joey is probably my favorite of his era so I will definitely take it. They also seem to think he's gonna have a big impact on JJ as well and that would be great.

Calling out the colts is probably my favorite thing he ever done. That was EXACTLY what we needed in that very moment. THEN during the game yelling at the refs for flat out cheating was just a bonus. He was the man. One question though is are all his legal troubles over? He had had multiple incidents right? That's the LAST thing we need!

Already covered earlier in this thread. They used it as a teaching moment to the players at Colorado.

Does anyone remember an interview with Joey either on the America's Game for SB40 or maybe in the highlight DVD or maybe it was just a post season interview during that Superbowl run where he basically said he is a little tired of how the franchise trots out the former players at least twice maybe even three times a year. I remember at the time I didn't care for the comment because I like seeing Franco, Lambert, Rocky, Mean Joe, The Bus, Greene and Llyod but with the last two subpar seasons I began to notice a little bit of what Joey was talking about. First off bringing in players from the past doesn't seem to have the same affect it used to on the current team, there is no "well we can't go out and embarrass ourselves when the Steel Curtain is in the house." and more like "oh yeah they brought out the old timers again" and second it does kinda show some disrespect for the current team when they spend so much time celebrating the past when the fans aren't happy with the present. Not sure if disrespect is the word I'm looking for though. Anyways I thought it was interesting and I can see Joey's POV a bit better now and makes me wonder if he has changed it since he is coming back to the organization.

Yeah that was on America's Game. He said the fans just "can't let go" and that he felt until his team won a championship they would never really be remembered as truly great. He didn't mean it as a slight to the legends. The problem with his theory though is that his team finally DID win a title but you STILL will always see more Lambert jerseys at the games. LOL.

Like many have said here, my reaction got better as I thought through it for a few minutes. I'm not sure whether or not JP would be a good x's & o's guy, but he had great technique and passion, and our OLBs could really use teaching in those areas.

Good point. Cam does have it.

He is slowly bringing the nas D back to the Curtain. Intimidation is making it's way back to the Burgh :)

Can he coach? I have no idea, guess we'll find out.

I think he can motivate, perhaps that's what they're looking for in an assistant
