What I don’t understand is Porter is arguably the most important player to sign from that draft class. For some reason I feel like we as an organization just don’t value the cb position like the rest of the NFL does. Why sign Washington when we’re barely going to use him in the new offense? Why sign Benton when he clearly has been a liability against the run? Why sign Herbig when
‘That’s either put out there by Porters camp to put pressure on the Steelers to add to his value or it’s speculation or click bait by a an analyst.

Porter Jr. contract was always going to the hardest one to get done, he might want top 5 CB money but the Steelers might not want to pay that.

You mean they're not sorting by OVR and just going down the list until they run out of money??

Porter's fake injury has to be a reason the Steelers are dragging their feet now.

Porter put himself on the PUP list all offseason, and if that continues into the regular season Porter may be looking at his final year of his rookie contract not counting, and he has to return to the Steelers in 2027 for his 2026 base salary of $3.9 million.

It was funny I looked this rule up for Broderick Jones not making it back for the 2026 season, and now it may apply to Joey Porter.

    How the Tolling Rule Works
Under Article 20, Section 2 of the CBA, a player in their final year of their contract who remains on the PUP list as of the sixth regular season game will have their contract “tolled” — meaning it carries over to the next league year

In other words, Joey Porter is going to have to stop this Fake Injury Bullsh!t and come back to work.

Im sure teams inquire about players all the time, doesnt mean the Steelers are shopping Porter.

Never heard of this Shultz guy and so far he is the only one reporting it.

What if we trade Joey Porter jr for a first and second round pick? He going to cost a lot of money to sign and this move will give up two low cap# players for 4 to 5 years. We are loaded at cornerback right now. Joey thinks he is worth a lot more than he is. Of course we can frashcie tag him for a year.

Players don't put themselves on the PUP list come on Brice, the Steelers probably did it to avoid the hold in.

Personally I always get a little jilted towards these guys when they get this greedy. It can backfire on them. Does it really make that much of a difference in the persons likes if they get paid 27 million a year verses 30 million?

15 minutes after Khan announced that all healthy players would be practicing today, Joey Porter held a press conference announcing he had tweaked his back and would not be at practice. I thought this is when Porter went on the PUP list.

I am pretty sure a team cannot put a healthy player on the IR or the Pup list all by themselves.

Joey Porter was 100% healthy until Khan made the announcement that all healthy players would be practicing. The only 2 players to open camp on the PUP list were Ramsey and Kent at the time of his announcement.

Omar Khan’s Statement on Healthy Players Practicing
General Manager Omar Khan has confirmed that all healthy players will be practicing with the Pittsburgh Steelers during training camp. This directive comes as part of the team’s ongoing roster and injury management updates, ensuring that players who are medically cleared can participate in full practice sessions while those on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list remain under medical supervision

Khan’s announcement follows his earlier confirmation that Jalen Ramsey and Donte Kent will open camp on the PUP list due to respective knee and ACL injuries

He might have tweaked something, but it probably isn't that serious for him to miss all of this practice time everybody thinks its contract related.

We should have already paid the man, and none of this would be talked about.
Let's not act like they didn't know this was coming, and it just snuck up on them

Another bogus report. Steelers arent trading Porter, some of you have lost your minds. Finally get a CB that can lock down top receivers and you want to trade him.

Yeah it’s a lot but in the scheme of what they make does it really matter? They still are getting life changing money at the 27 million figure.
