For sure. Based on the charges it sounds like a typical night for myself when I was in my early 20's.
Dumb on his part, but nothing to get fired over.

That reminds me of a Ron White bit. "Tater Salad" "I was drunk in a bar, they threw me out in public"

    So......

Much like Ben's case which was much of nothing then in terms of the aftermath and mindless outsiders proclaiming he did assault someone?

Except the fact that Ben was demonized by many media outlets in the aftermath similar to what we are seeing with Joey.

Yes, the crimes were different but their perception within anyone not a Steelers fan will change dramatically or even make their views on said players even worse.

But, my question is, how does a player/coach just win a game in his own city and get treated that way. I can see this in a bar of another city, but not pittsburgh. They apparently knew him

    do you think
people should get special treatment because they are part of a sports team and happen to win A game?
isn't this what happened to Ben at the beginning of his downfall?
He got special treatment everywhere in town and suffered zero consequences?
Then the kid thought he could take his act outside of Pittsburgh and learned a hell of a lesson.

    See
there is a way to compare the two after all

    tada !!!

Some people just don't think things through rationally.
Rumors and opinions become facts to some then they make knee jerk judgements.

The one person who said Joey Porter was baited in the incident on South Side was right.
NFL Channel said after reviewing the tape the serious charges were dropped. Translation. The door man saw him and called the cops and started woofin at him. Joey will coach Sunday and Coach T will sort it out after it is done.

Yes, its done all the time. But, I'm not saying special treatment but ... This is borderline profiling . There wasn't anything fair about this treatment...let alone special about this treatment.

True it was very close to profiling and it has been said that the establishment discriminates. Hopefully the place will pay dearly for it.

I think the doorman saw an opportunity to play tough guy without risking any repercussions. It happens.

Chief Schubert spoke one day after the office of Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr. announced that — barring any additional evidence — it planned to withdraw the most serious charges against Mr. Porter. The DA’s office said it viewed surviellance footage of a dispute Mr. Porter had with a police officer outside a bar on the South Side on Sunday night and determined that the only charges that should proceed were summary disorderly conduct and summary public drunkenness.

Baited almost implies that he has no self-control and someone else is responsible for his actions. Regardless of what the doorman said, why didn't he just walk away? I expect this kind of stuff from young players, but coaches need to be better. They can't let themselves get into these situations. They are the ones who need to lead by example. Would anyone of you get into a fight in the street with your young child next to you? I know I sure wouldn't. I'd do whatever it took to avoid the situation. Somehow I doubt Porter did that.

Not saying he should be fired or charged, just saying, unless he was assaulted, he could have avoided the situation.
