Report on the Athletic stating that Haden won’t be signing an extension after all, and will play out the last year of his deal in 2021

It's the right move by the Steelers Joe is getting up there.
With money going to be need for Watt and Fitzpatrick, going be tough to keep everybody.

Haden still has gas left in the tank. It would be great if they extended him one more year. He now wants to test the market after the season as per Rosenhaus. Guess the Steelers brass didn't open talks about an extension.

Going 2 be tough 2 keep anybody. Just think if Watt actually gets what he wants ....that's a little over 15% of the cap. Then add Minkah. You are going 2 have over 20 something maybe 30 something % of the cap in 2 players.

I would expect the cap in increase but, it really tough to just let 2 guys who where in the top 100 of NFL players one guy who was #9 just to stroll off your roster.

This is why you need to win that Super Bowl when you go the guys cheap.

I totally agree, but think about this. Highest we've ever paid a Defense player cap wise I believe(if I'm remembering correctly from just reading about it the other day) is 9% and that was Troy freaking P. Who was his biggest in playoffs.
All I'm saying is almost 30% going 2 two guys is no way 2 build a team. IMO. Especially when neither is a Qb.

TJ and Minkah won’t account for 30% of the cap in real terms. They will do deals where they can move money around, add option years etc. The headline APY figures are rarely the true cost of the player, the only exceptions are QB’s like Prescott and Cousins that got crazy deals from their teams.

When you have perennial All Pro players you need to keep them if you can. Draft well behind them and you’ll be fine with the cap.

So Tuitt is hurt, TJ is disgruntled, Sounds like Haden is disgruntled, JuJu milk crates...

Sounds like Tomlins Neverland Ranch is in midseason form...

It's funny that Haden's agent is trying to spin it as though this is Haden's choice to become a free agent, the Steelers aren't interested in extending him.

Unless you are a super talent or franchise QB, Steelers very rarely pay a 3rd contract.

Game 1 against Buffalo was proof that Hayden is no longer the shut-down corner he used to be.

Instead we kept Hayden away from Diggs and ran groups CBs and Safeties at him all night.
