275 million with $212,000,000 guaranteed. That’s insane for someone who really cares to make a team friendly deal so he can keep other players. If he don’t win the SB within 2 seasons he won’t have much surrounding support.

This is the market at this point at this position...He is the fourth QB in this offseason(3 in the 2020 draft class) to have a 50 millions contract per year....It will depend the structure and this is like a 7 years contract since he had 2 years left in his rookie contract...I think this contract will be fine for at least 4 years

It’s absolutely obscene what these guys are making these days. Joe Namath was the highest paid quarterback in the 70s and he signed a two year deal worth $900,000. The salary was $425,000 per season which would equate to about $2.4 million today. To illustrate the exponential growth of NFL contracts, Burrow’s guaranteed contract is worth $42 million per season. Absolutely mind boggling! One thing’s for sure, when you look at Burrow’s, Jackson’s and Watson’s contracts, Kenny brings the average dollars per season for AFC North quarterbacks down significantly, lol.

I remember reading or seeing stories of NFL players in the '60's. The AFL brought some competition, but those guys were at the mercy of the owners.

I consider myself a huge fan of the Steelers and the NFL in general. My teenage son is right there with me in that regard. We typically attend an away game and a local game per year. Last year we went to the Bills and Colts. Each year the prices go way way up but we attend anyways just for the experience and memories we gather together. In a week and a half we will be at La$ Vega$. I have an Air BNB. Flights booked and a rental car. I’m taking the wife but she isn’t going to the game. Right now we are about $2,300 invested and still needing tickets. I’m not disgusted by this as I consider it a vacation that I’ve already saved up for. What I am disappointed with is these secondary markets that buy up tickets with Bots and then resell them for 4 times the price. Cheapest ticket today is $399 per ticket plus service bastard fees. We will be at the game but hoping prices fall. Last year we got tickets for the Bills the day before when they finally dropped about $100 each. What I’m truly getting at is the NFL is really pricing us average wage fans out of the experience and that will be their ultimate downfall. Hey, somebody has to pay these outrageous salaries.‍

As in other sports, game day cash, while adding to the bottom line, is actually becoming lower priority for owners. The cash cow is in media rights, revenues from betting, other marketing strategies. If you have a 60,000 seat stadium, sell tickets at 300 bucks, that's 18 million. That's 144 million for 8 games, so I won't say there is not money to be made, lol. The % shared with the visiting team, taxes, other expenses..and of course that 300 was picked from thin air, the team get's what they get. Bottom line, as much as I love the sport, there is a limit I will not cross. I quit going to movies because the entertainment value never met the threshold of what the expense is, the NFL is no different. A few years ago the average baseball viewer was 57. NFL 50, NBA 42. soccer 39. They are still going to get their billions, and venturing into different media is trying to maximize a viewer base, but that age is still ticking upward and if the product does not improve, the product will not sustain long term.
