And again, I would tell you to look at the box scores and check the rushing yards. He had no help in the run game

I agree with this. Though. I think Mason maybe Good under certain circumstances. Although I say we ride with Ben at least one last time. I know riding with Ben in 2021 is not a popular notion...Well...
Still think it's the best choice.

One commentator said he played over 900 snaps last year (his highest total in years), his stats were down..but you also have to look at the team and talent around him. I believe he can still play a role, but his impact will be because of those around him more than his play alone. Also from several reports I have heard (and for what they are worth) the 'he will play for peanuts" thinking is not necessarily, he wants a chance to play for a title, with a team that has Cap room. I do not think money is the motivating factor, but those thinking he will take chump change are mistaken.

The Bills have now entered the fold if they weren't in it already.

What sucks is that Cleveland is on the table and they have cap space to pay him. I don't want him helping Cleveland. If he comes to the North, there's only one team he better sign with.

Good question. Funny how some of these threads get off track. Thanks for getting us back on track. If JJ goes to the stains, that's going to suck. I don't want to hate JJ, but if he goes there, well f@#% him.

How much would it suck if JJ went there and then the Watt's desire to play together resulted in TJ leaving to go there. Damn that would really suck.

Except for the fact the Steelers can tag TJ in 2022, and 2023.

I don't have time to catch you up on this. Should know if you read all associated posts. Or, don't worry about something that doesn't involve you.

Yeah it’s not going to happen.

Need to somehow re-sign our current Defensive guys.

Maybe get lucky and pickup some D Line depth that doesn’t break the bank.

Unless JJ can play Buck ILB in the 3-4... Steelers have no use for him. As mediocre as Tuitt and Heyward have been in playoff games, just don't see much of an upgrade over current DEs at this point in Watt's career.

Rhetorical question here: What are the odds of a 32 old injury prone DL going into a different defensive system to play in a position that he has never played and expect him to be as productive as he was playing the position that he had always played in for his entire career? JJ was a great player and he is still good but this is more about novelty, not necessity IMO.

Really? Why lol. I think people questioning where he would play just say that because they don’t want him.

I'm not sure he's got enough left in him without injuries, but the ....where would he play makes me laugh.

Not sure if its a case not wanting him or do we really need him. Key word "need". To me, we really only need 1 Watt on the team, not 3. I don't know all the in's and out's of the cap but after reading about how bad things allegedly are, I'd be a penny pincher and focus on the offense (OL) without kicking the can further down the highway. If they can find a way to get him aboard without hindering other gaps a plenty we have, then great. It is hard to know when reading all of the garbage out there these days just what we can and cannot do. Lets face it, JJ and the endless list of quarterbacks that have been suggested to come to Pittsburgh makes it hard to even know we are in a cap tight situation. KC has probably already made a decision on this so all the above is probably mute already.

I don’t get to wrap up in the cap space stuff. I mean realistically, they are probably looking at 2010-2011 season when they signed one bargain basement FA in each of those years.

We don’t know what JJ would be willing to play for but if they could work out the finances, I think the need is there if they believe they will lose Bud. Putting all their eggs in the Highsmith basket with the small sample size they got would be high risk, IMO. If they think they can keep Bud then he’s obviously the guy I’d rather have.
