Maybe it is my black and gold glasses but watching the game and then re-watching it on DVR, he is a terribly biased announcer. At times I thought I was watching a pre-season game with the Jets home announcers. I am not sure how he is CBS lead announcer but I am hopeful I don't have to listen to him for quite a while. Yesterday was worse than normal. Or is it just me or does this guy dislike the Steelers?

I didn't notice. They both seemed fine to me. Is there an announcer in the world that isn't "biased" against the Steelers? It seems like no matter who is calling the game, someone on this site thinks they're biased against the Steelers. The announcers are just doing their job, and sometimes that means creating hype for certain players or plays.

Nice thing when you go to a game you don't have to listen to annoucers. Jim Nantz should stick golf, great golf annoucer, I hate Phil Simms but he knows what he is talking about most times.

I think people are way over sensitive to announcers being "biased." Why would you care?

Agreed, I'm sure the Jets fans were complaining that they were biased toward the Steelers. This has become the "norm" now.

I had a similar reaction. I noticed this with Nantz during the 2010 AFCCG. I am not sure it's bias as much as it is CBS, based in NYC, knowing what butters its bread: New York TV audiences.

The reason I care is I don't have the option of muting the TV and listening to the Steeler radio broadcast so I am at the mercy of broadcasters. I just think at times Nantz seems to take things a bit too far, at least in my opinion.

IDK. I didn't feel any bias. In fact, what really surprised me was how non-biased Phil Simms was.

They must have griped for 5 minutes about that PI call being BS. If they were, oh, say, Collinsworth, it would have been a "good call."

Agreed. A lot of it has to do with whether a person likes that particular announcer to begin with. Like Joe Buck, I can't stand him and always seems to be against the team I am rooting for, pretty big coincidence that he hates all the teams Ilike

Exactly. I like Joe Buck but can't stand Phil Simms so I am always more critical of Simms' announcing :)

Troy Aikman is about the most honest unbiased announcer on TV, he stays neutral and tells it like it is even if he's calling a Dallas game, and I like that in an announcer, it's too bad he is teamed up with that little shrimp. Joe Buck:

I think nantz was a jets fan growing up. not that it matters now. I think i read that in his book or have heard him say it in the past.

I agree that folks always seem to over react with regards to what they consider biased announcers. However, if I'm not mistaken, Nantz is a Jets fan outside the telecast booth.....(?) Nevertheless, I didn't notice any bias while watching this game. Maybe its because I was to busy watching the Steelers control the clock in dominating fashion as the game went on.

I am not one who likes to cry about the announcers, but those two clowns were terrible yesterday, so much that I finally put them on mute in the 4th Quarter and it was so much better. On every single play, (Simms was the worst!) "Here's what the Jets need to do..." or "The Jets have to get this first down!" etc. etc. etc. I started making my own commentary after his was made.... "Here's what the Steelers need to do..." and "The Defense really needs to step up here and make a stop!"

I prefer to listen to the radio broadcast. Usually do so through the internet. Problem I have is the radio broadcast over the internet is always ahead of the delayed TV broadcast. So I hear it, then see it. At times I get so disgusted with Collinsworth, or Simms, or whoever that I need to listen to Bill H and Tunch. Most of the time however, I like for the sound and image to be lined up, so I grin and bear it.

I think the problem with Nantz is that Simms' blatant homerism for the New York teams has rubbed off on him. I admired Simms very much as a player and he now lives about 1.5 miles from my childhood residence in NJ. Nevertheless, he is nauseating when calling the Jets or Giants, and he actively rooted for the Jets during the 2010 AFC title game broadcast.

I also can not stand Joe Buck. If you've ever seen the video of him and Artie Lang I think you will see that Artie Lang agrees with us as well.

I can't stand Nantz and Simms neither. To me, Nantz is a Tom Lady lover and Simms is a New York homer. Joe Buck just flat out sucks and should stick to calling baseball games. I despise all three of these gentlemen. My favorites (past and present) are...............

    1) Charlie Jones
    2) Dick Enberg
    3) Merlin Olsen
    4) Don Criqui
    5) Bob Trumpy
    6) Dan Dierdorf
    7) Greg Gumble
    8) Troy Aikman
    9) Frank Gifford
    10) Pat Summerall

Did anyone watch the Packers/Bears game on NFL Network Thursday??? Mike Mayock is another annoying douche bag. All he does is talk about their skill sets and mention every damn college they came from. We hear enough of that during the damn combines from him. Bob Papa rubs me the wrong way too and he's definitely a Giants homer considering he does all of their broadcasts. :yeehaw:

Yeah Mayock is such a stooge! He's like "this guy had GREAT hands coming out of college. Ran a 4:3 40 and maintained a 3.8 gpa. But he had a limited skillset which I feel like caused his stock to fall a little and led to a later pick than I had him pegged for. I felt like he would've went higher if he could've just worked on his route running a little bit more but still I think I am awesome for knowing this..." Meanwhile 3 plays have passed while he's carrying on about a guy that was drafted 9 years ago. But as for the guy I like to hear call a game I actually like Al Michaels.

Just curious- are you old enough to remember the late Curt Gowdy? IMO he was excellent, and I still associate his voice with Steelers glory. Gowdy called several of the Steelers big wins in the 1970's for NBC, including the 1974 & 1975 AFC championship games, and Super Bowl IX and XIII. I can still remember him saying, at the end of Super Bowl IX, that the Steelers were only going to get better. And he was right.
