I don't think Jesse James will be back. This league throws stupid money at the TE position. He will find some one to pay him more than the Steelers. I like Jesse, but you can tell that McDonald is the clear #1 in the system the Steelers run. Hopefully Steelers do well and find a good one in the draft.

In my eyes he had good enough hands that should have beaten Belicheat two years ago.

    This.

To further augment this statement, let us assume AB is indeed traded and Vance gets hurt at some point, after the trade, during the 2019 Regular Season. Who will be our fall back plan for moving the sticks? For that matter, which player not named JuJu has shown to have reliable hands?!

Between Grimble and Jesse, I would want to place my bets on the "Outlaw".

I hope they resign him. It won't break the bank. You need players like JJ.

As others have mentioned, having Vance healthy for an entire season is not a sure thing. JJ is a backup who has shown he can handle being a starter, even though he has limitations.

He has the best hands of any tight end we have including McDonald, he is not as fast or strong but does have better hands.

Jesse James doesn't have the physical traits for the current NE offense. I doubt they would even give it a thought.

He is not physical, but knowing that he has good hands and good speed, I have to wonder if there isn't a better use for him than "physical"?

I think we are looking for better blocking from that spot. Grimble was used more in that capacity. I think he will be brought back for that number two spot until we find a guy to eventually take over for McDonald, In a couple of years .

Than WE have. That doesnt make his hands good. His hands are very suspect in terms of the nfl.

Actually Vance did pretty much the same thing in a game.

So you agree he has the best hands of the tight ends we have. If you agree with this, but think his hands are not NFL good, then what do you think of Vance's hands? Does he have NFL good hands? I think they both do, but Vance will drop more passes then Jesse. Although I would start Vance over him, however Jesse is a decent 2nd string.

He’s a better player than he gets credit for. I hope the Steelers are smart enough to keep him around. But they’re not so I’m afraid he’ll be gone.
