OAKLAND, Calif., Dec. 22— Brett Favre passed for 399 yards and 4 touchdowns a day after his father's death, moving into second place in N.F.L. history for career touchdown passes while leading the Green Bay Packers to a 41-7 victory over the Oakland Raiders on Monday night.

With one spectacular long pass after another

Again, what one guy (A future Hall of Fame QB at that) does, has no bearing on what can affect another.

Also, he was a little older than said the rookie playing in his first NFL action at @ 30. Let's not forget that said man who you've put up there as an example wasn't exactly the pinnacle of success as a rookie either.

Favre's first pass in an NFL regular season game resulted in an interception returned for a touchdown. He only attempted four passes in his career at Atlanta, was intercepted twice, and completed none of them. Favre took one other snap, which resulted in a sack for an eleven-yard loss.

He didn't even have anyone die on him to put those numbers up!

He looked much better this week. He'll be fine as what they are trying to develop him into.

I agree I watched it Friday and again yesterday he did do better
I'm not the kind of person who hopes a player does bad for what ever reason just so that they are cut, especially a player that PWP might have a crush on:cool:

Thought so. I was going to post OTTMH that he certainly did a complete turnaround being letter perfect in his opportunities. But I was not sure if he was only targeted twice. Which he was. The reason for the lack of attention on the offense was I only rewatched the entire game once but then went back to the beginning numerous times and only watched the D.

Frankly, it was surprising how confident and surehanded he appeared. Like to see him keep this up. On the initial catch it was on a 3rd and very long he secured the ball and wisely got down in traffic.

Maybe they should have used him in the last couple chances they had. [I think he was in then] Perhaps they could have pulled the game out?

I'm going to share a personal experience that is relevant to the topic of losing a best friend and concentrating or focusing at work. Over two years ago when my wife and I first found out we were pregnant with our daughter we had some issues early on in the pregnancy. My wife was over 35 and that put her in the high risk category, three years earlier when she was pregnant with my son we had to take precautions right up until the final month. She had miscarried a few times before we were married so there were some things emotionally tied to this pregnancy. Her initial doctor's visit also had an ultrasound and a rather inexperienced ultrasound tech told my wife that it didn't appear to be a viable pregnancy. Now her doctor said not to worry yet but to that we should wait a week and come back but it didn't hurt to prepare and if we were the type, to pray. My wife was crushed despite his reassurances and texted me at work. I don't remember much about that day at work except going about my job in sort of a daze. I did my job but I don't think I did it well and I hope that the customers order I was packaging were right but I really wasn't in the right frame of mind to be at work. By the time I got home I had compartmentalized things and supported my wife as best I could telling her not to worry everything will work out. We both seemed to be just coasting through that week not really concentrating on anything. I am lucky that my stepdaughter was able to help with my son because her mother and I were distracted. The next week we returned to the doctor and had the ultrasound first off this time with the most senior tech on staff. I was prepared for the worst so when with in the first minute when he clicked a few buttons and said ok there is your babies heartbeat I was floored. My wife and I went from an extreme low to a high that can't be described. Long story short the news of a death of a loved one or the potential loss of one can affect people in many waysI have witnessed it first hand.

I thought it was tough to tell since they weren't utilizing the TE very much and weren't running as much either.
