I always wanted to read an article written by a player's mom. :lolol:

I do think he could be pretty good. I see him as a Miller/Spaeth hybrid.

He's got the size and athleticism to be a fantastic blocker/red zone threat.

Couldn't have a better mentor than Heath. He'll get 50-100 snaps this season unless something terrible happens. He's still got to beat out Blanchflower.

I wasn't to thrilled with James in the fifth. I just don't see any aspects of his game that are good... Average or below average at just about everything. With that being said, I hope it's just because he came out too early and he turns into a stud for us. If he could turn out to be similar to Spaeth, I'd be happy.

The thing that jumps out on those film break downs to me Snack is that Penn State was using him wrong. The contributed to his woes blocking. Those bubble screens were putting him in a bad position and he was making bad plays. That first one he came from tight in on the formation to streak out and try to take out the CB who beat him with speed? Why If he takes the LB and lets the WR make a move on his CB it might have resulted in a better play.

His size is beyond good. I think he'll be able to take advantage of his 6'7" frame in the passing game, unlike Spaeth. And he's athletic for a man his size, moreso than Spaeth. If he can learn to hold his own as a blocker anywhere near Miller or Spaeth, he'll be a keeper.

I think some of this is coaching. I think the coaching change hurt him some. In addition, much like we talked about with Dupree and him not having a position coach, many colleges use a WR coach to teach the receiving skills and then boot the TEs over to the Oline coach to teach blocking. Of course, the issue there is, so many of these guys now are blocking from the WR position not Inline.

I think he has a lot of upside... Long story short, if he lives up to his name we got a bad ass in the making!

That's true, I guess I ignored his height. Hopefully he learns how to use it in the NFL. I didn't see too much to get excited about in his college tape. Just my opinion tho.

I agree, he has a ways to go and at this point I think will Johnson is way ahead of him and blanchflower as a receiver and blocker. if willj was just 2 inches taller and 2olbs. heavier he'd be the new TE. james is just 20 though. I also kind of expect spaeth to get some more receptions if he's fully healthy this year.

The one pick I didn't like at all. Guy has height, but that's all. Needs a ton of work, so time will tell.

I think he will surprise a lot people. Penn St didn't use him as they should have and didn't take advantage of his height and catching ability, especially in the red zone. He has a lot of upside, should be a keeper even if he sits on the practice squad for a year.

Raven fans think they pulled a fast one on us

I'd like to see him used the way other teams use a tight end so he can become the next Antonio Gates, or Tony Gonzales.

My nephew played DL for Penn State, and was a James teammate. just sayin.

Jesse didn't stick out at all, and I think he would have to make huge strides in his pro game just to make the team.

I didn't like Spaeth for his whole career because he seemed clumsy and had bad hands.
But last year in the playoffs he made a spectacular catch and run that made me like the guy. It was an opportunity to make a huge play, and he got er done.
