The expansion Jaguars beat the Steelers, but Tomlin is the only coach who loses to inferior opponents .

Fisher sucks as a HC, notice how much better the Rams got after they got rid of him.

Cowher did no question but at a lesser frequency. This franchise in general has a problem against lesser opponents which means this whole team needs new ideas not just the coaching staff.

Look up Jeff Fisher's career coaching record, barely .500. I live in St. Louis now and I can tell you firsthand that the teams he coached completely sucked. Like the guy, though, saw him at a steakhouse about a decade ago.

Still my worst loss as a Steelers fan losing to the inferior Chargers in the 94 AFCCG .

The Jags were one of the very few expansion teams that were competitive right away. In only their second season they reached the AFC championship game.

Yep they also had a good lb core. Kevin hardy was one of them if i remember right. Jags and panthers neither one had to wait long for success like the expansion teams before them. Wasn't it like 3 years and they were both in the championship game?

True. He was a solid defensive coordinator though. I would give him the keys to the defense.

I can remember they said that Bill Cowher once broke Jeff Fisher's leg when they were players.

They would bring that up every broadcast back in the 90's. and into the early and mid 2000's

I believe (going off of memory) that was Earl Holmes last year as our inside, or middle LB.

I also remember He didn't want the Qb J. Goff , and everyone said He was crazy....Yet where is J. Goff now.
He also had 2 coach a team that just moved at that time.
Also they were not throwing money , and Draft picks at every free agent that ever lived when He was the coach.
Really when You think about it they Have underachieved with S. Mc Vay, and all the Draft picks they've lost, and money they spent.
I'm not saying He was great. I'm just saying He's not as bad as some say He is.

McVay is a much better HC than Fisher, Goff under Fisher looked like a bust, he got the Rams to the Super Bowl under McVay.

When Tomlin appears in 6 AFC championships like Cowher did, win or lose, then we'll talk.

Fisher's philosophy was play not to lose. He was a poor man's Marty Schottenheimer. Fisher would have put the Steelers organization back 20 years. His people skills were terrible.

You didn't cover all the additional players they added after Fisher left. Again I'm not saying Fisher was great .....I just think it's an unfair comparison.
Also Fisher went ,and lost a SB just like McVay

People better be careful what they wish for. Finding a franchise QB that fits, particularly one that fits the AFC North, even more that fits the city of Pittsburgh will be a task. Roethlisberger was is a once in a lifetime QB.

I remember before Ben, the Chin, and the carousel of QBs.
Gawd how I miss the spitting and screaming.

Didn’t Carolina make it to NFC Championship game the same year?

I believe so. If not I think it was the following year. Those expansion teams had a lot of Talent on them.

actually you might want to look into that frequency claim. You’ll be surprised at what you find. Perhaps it’s not the teams, but the fans? Fans underestimating opponents as opposed to playing down to the competition.
