I think JB's doing a fine job. I don't understand the apparent dislike for him by some on this board. So he dropped a couple of passes early in the season. AB and Heath drop balls too. It's bound to happen on occasion but so long as it doesn't become a pattern (see Mike Wallace) it's not an issue. I have high hopes for JB . He has good size, makes contested catches, can take a shot and hang on to the ball, blocks and doesn't lose focus when the ball is not coming his way like Mr. South Beach (sorry to keep picking on MW but can't help myself). He also seems to be improving his route running. I know it's asking a lot, but I'd like to see him become a bigger version of Hines Ward. Let's give him a chance, people!

What I don't get is since when is a receiver better: by blocking or by catching? To me, if you can catch better and a better route runner than you are at blocking then you should play over someone who is a better blocker and not as good in catching. Little confused with the theory.

Well, let's just hope JB doesn't do some silly celebration at the news...

This is great news, some of these draft picks are starting to produce well.

Does JB actually have more receptions than drops on the season?

JB makes 1 tough catch last game and suddenly that's the new normal? Before last week, 1/2 of his "catches" was actually a drop that wasn't challenged. He's awful. Fortunately he can block.

I still think Martavis Bryant is the better receiver of all 3.

17 targets, 10 receptions. Think he only has 1 drop, plus 1 fumble.

Sporting charts doesn't list any drops but I know he had the dropped TD.

He's far from awful, think you are being a tad unfair. He's getting better every week, has a whopping 5 NFL games under his belt. I think he will turn out to be a good receiver for us, already instrumental in the running game.

(don't know why that link isn't able to be clicked on, weird)

That's one more than Mike Wallace had while he was here! :smiley1:

Give the the guy a chance, contract, before you write him off.

    Long term, maybe.

Bryant's not ready yet. When he gets ready, he has all the potential in the world to be Justin Brown +100. But for now, I like what I see from Brown - he's growing steadily but surely.

You have to look at the total package. Blocking is a part of a receiver's job. You can't judge a player solely on his fantasy points.

I'm guessing you don't know how many drops he has vs catches?

Jab seems to be shaping into something, I would like to see Moore get some more snaps though

What were going to wait until contract year to play someone again. He is better than JB just because of his red zone advantage. Why not play him for advantage. Why do we need Heywood bay, Moore ,and JB active. Do not understand.

JB is almost as tall as Bryant and much better at this point in their careers. Bryant has a lot of work to do, he's far behind the rest of the receivers.

Lance Moore is just different. I know he's older, but I don't see this as an ARE/Sanders situation. I think Moore brings a big play, first down, clutch aspect to the team that JB doesn't yet. And I don't see him with as many drops/fumbles.

I would have made Moore the clear #3 after JB's rough start. As it is, they should at least be rotating. Lance Moore just offers something JB can't. Get them both in.

Exactly, not a knock on Justin Brown just that Moore has more polish to his game. I'm not against getting Brown in there and getting him real game experience but when you are in a back alley brawl trying to win a tight game its not the time to get guys experience. Plus guys lets be realistic Justin Brown is not the second coming of Hines Ward and while I think he has helped the running game at least in some part I don't think his blocking is the driver of the bus if you know what I mean. The article quotes Haley as saying he has contributed to getting the RB's four or five more yards which is nice, i'd prefer him helping them get 10 to 15 personally.

It certainly seems odd that we would pay the money for Moore and then sit him on the bench. I'm impressed by Brown's development, but we need all of the weapons sharpened.
