If a good value is available then draft him

If not go with plan B Chubb iot whomever

Warren’s snap count will go up so I’m not concerned with Chubb’s durability

Not only that I am concerned with his explosion and speed. If he has regained that year two after the injury it would be interesting to pick him up. With so few picks in the top 100 its gonna be hard to get a DT, Slot CB, RB and QB. Would love to see us pick up Parish for the Slot as we really need to solidify that position. The problem is you probably need to draft him at third or if your lucky in the fourth. Its gonna be tough to get quality players in the other positions outside of round four. Losing that 2nd rounder really hurt our chances to fill those four needs. It puts us in round five to draft one of those positions. I still think we need to fill one of those positions via a free agent pickup. The Steelers should at least invite Chubb in and put him through a workout before the draft.

My issue is they have so few draft picks this year and seemingly alot of needs. I really want to see them solidify the DT and Slot CB position in this draft. My fear is we are going to take a backup QB and a rb who is going to split carries with Warren and Gainewell and we won’t address the gaping hole at slot cb. It really hurts our defense.

    If

    Big if

If the Steelers are interested in Chubb I would expect them to have their ducks in a row before the draft and if need be pull the trigger immediately after the draft

This draft has like 35 draftable RBs, they can find a rotation RB in the 4th or 5th round.

The plan may actually be to go this season with a RB room of Warren, Gainwell, and Patterson.

The 2nd round pick went WR.

Beanie Bishop was our slot CB last season and we brought in Brandin Echols this offseason who is also a slot CB.
I think there are some very good DB prospects in this draft. I would be excited to get one of those. Specifically Barron and Emmanwori.

Outside of Rodgers what FA QB is going to be much of an upgrade over Rudolph? Unless we sign Rodgers I fully believe MR will be the starting QB week1. If we do draft a QB, he'll start out as a backup. We wouldn't be drafting a QB here for immediate results.

I don't know about DL. We have been adding piece after piece. I had a discussion recently and it was brought up that fixing our secondary will allow ILBs to play more down hill vs staying in zone coverage. Thus, better run defense. That's one way of looking at it. Another would be, who's the Stephon Tuitt in this class?

They have 6 picks that's enough to draft:
    2 DL
    1 QB
    1 RB
    1 CB
    1 OL

And that is all they need since they have Warren their favorite back

    No need for OL

    Unless it’s the 7th

I looked up the scouting report on Echols it is not very good. I really hope they upgrade the slot. The slot really determines our communication, hit reads and blitzes. If we don’t have it settled it messes up all kinds of communication on the back end and we pretty much rush vanilla then as well because we don’t trust the slot.

The guy from Oregon is probably the most like Tuitt. I would prefer however they get Grant from Michigan. He is a bigger body pocket pusher with athleticism. I think he would really open things up for the ILB’s. I would be fine with just going with our current crop of rb’s. Regarding the QB’s in the draft, I really doubt any one of them will move the needle much outside of the top 2. Not sure what the point is if drafting one just for the sake of drafting one even if we don’t get Rodgers.

Well there is talk of them wanting a safety and a wr as well not to me
ntion I think they need two cb’s a slot and a oeri
There is talk that the Steelers want to draft a safety and wr as well. Plus they need two CB’s one at slot and a perimeter one. Perhaps the safety they draft would play slot.

And the other factor which is good to know. How many times did the Steelers throw the ball when Warren was on the field. I would very interested to know.

I actually like Najee as a person. So I'm not talking smack. Never missed a game! Maybe nit Leveon 2.0 but a good solid short yardage back.

Yes I'm grateful for Warren. Bless him he has no one to spare him lol

With only six picks they aren't going to draft two CBs, I don't see any perimeter CB in this draft getting much playing time next season for them.

Well you could say the same thing about a Safety or a QB in the fourth round or a developmental Offensive Lineman. Part of this draft is for next year. Unfortunately we have so many needs now it is tough to draft for next year. The good teams who are stacked are usually drafting to plug one or two holes and the rest of their picks are always for the following years holes. They don’t resign middling starters or above average starters and they recoup draft capital with compensatory picks. The Ravens are excellent at this. They seemingly always have ten plus draft picks on draft day with many being 3rd and 4th rounders. Its a great way to stay ahead of the salary cap as well.

Warren is cheaper and has less mileage on him. That doesn't change the fact that he couldn't come close to unseating Harris as the starter.

Your feeling is incorrect. You are fooled by Warren occasionally laying someone out. Harris has always been better at picking up the right defender, something Warren has struggled with at times.

They loved him so much that they played him less, gave him the ball less, and let Harris start ahead of him every single game of his career so far.

We don't even know that he will be the starter. They could still sign a veteran or start a draft pick to keep him in that third-down role where he excells.

Also, when both were on the team, he was the backup. He is cheaper and likely has more tread on the tires. I know you realize the difference, so this is just you being you.

They have also shown more interest in safety and QBs, I would like for them to draft a CB but even if they did I expect it to be in the later rounds.
