What compensatory draft pick would we get if he signs as a FA elsewhere? I'm thinking he is worth more as a draft pick than as a linebacker.

I still say keep him. Just don't give him starter money. He doesn't suck

For us to get a good comp pick for JJ, he'd need to receive a high salary from his new team.

Sorry, steel, I disagree. He absolutely does suck IMO. Not as much as Huey Richardson, but JJ was a HUGE bust. Keeping him around in any role would be a constant reminder of that. Time for him to move on.

Jarvis Jones sucks as an Edge Rusher!!!!

As a LBer he isn't bad. Recognizes the play, finds the ball and makes the tackle.

If we find another edge rusher to go along with Dupree and line up in a 4-3 set JJ would be a good SAM.

I would just like to keep roster as strong as possible. Imo, he is probably 5th best backer on roster. Maybe 6th if we keep Timmons. We carry what, 8?

As far as Jones and saying he sucks, yeah...he DOES suck for being the #17 overall pick. If he was a 5th-6th rounder, there wouldn't be any discussion.

What's strange is when Jones was drafted, if you go back and look at the rest of the 1st round that year, there really wasn't much else to choose from other than Desmond Trufant and DeAndre Hopkins. One of them definitely would've been nice but would've been considered a huge reach

Not a lot of offensive skill players drafted in that 1st round that's for sure..........

Is there a point when you just need to throw your hands up in the air as a coach or front office and declare, JJ is not the guy we hoped he would be and now it's time to say goodbye. Also, maybe it also gives voice to the other players, drafting status does not keep you on this team if you can't produce ?

Teams just hate say they drafted a first round bust but his stats say it is so, he has 6 career sacks with 2 picks and a career total of 83 solo tackles, thats just how bad it is.....

Lets hope they get something for him for being drafted in the 1st as he has given little to nothing his time here.

I fought with myself over those two players up until the draft on who I would have liked better as our #1 pick. I don't think either was a reach at where we were picking imo.

Jarvis ended up being pretty much another Alonzo Jackson. Based on physical attributes the pick never made sense to me.

There are a lot of "5th best backer" types out there and available. I'd rather have an overachiever in that role rather than a player who at one time was mentioned as being possibly the number one overall pick in the draft.

Have no idea why that matters or is important to you.

You guys better hope someone offers him a starting position somewhere or he's going to end up back here. To say this guy isnt even good depth is a little over the top.

    Read my lips, Blast.

JARVIS JONES' DAYS AS A STEELER ARE OVER.

He was a huge BUST even though you seem to be reluctant to want to acknowledge that.

This guy was drafted for one reason and one reason only. To, as a former Steeler head coach said, RUSH THE QUARTERBACK.

He has demonstrated incredible ineptitude and inability to be able to do so. He was weak and slow in his pro day workouts and his play at the NFL level has been weak and slow.

He won't be offered starter money anywhere AND he won't be back in the Black and Gold.

IMHO (my disclaimer just in case I'm wrong) ;)
