FWIW, it's never a good sign when a player that was starting on Sunday is cut on Tuesday.

Lol is another chapter in Tomlin's book of camp phenomenon making the roster and being dumped in the first month. Jones joins some good company in Tuzar and Watson.

He was bad Sunday, but how does this make sense if they aren’t sure if the status of Watt and Highsmith?

About the same as it did last week but Taco gets another 4 practices before he is thrown out there. Maybe.

I was a bit surprised too, but he looked pretty poor defending the run on Sunday. They can still sign him back to the PS, correct? If not, they must be pretty confident in Watt and Highsmith coming back and the development of Taco.

He will most likely end up back on the PS if they want him. Watt and Highsmith are expected to practice this week by all accounts, they have brought Tuszka up to the 53 so they must prefer him to Jones. I don’t know anything at all about Tuszka except that he plays OLB

More than likely this. Probably Taco. They are going to have to make some decisions when Tuitt, Banner and McFarland come of IR also.

I am assuming this is because of the TACO signing last week.

Damn, now Jones and Roche are both gone, when you get your chance to play you have to show something.

that and the emergence of Tuszka, who I remember seeing more on the field than Jones, Jones had his chance...

Would it make a difference? Tomlin's mantra is you don't lose your job because of injury so even if Jones put together a game like Watt's week 1 outing he still would be sent back to ST at the earliest convenience.

You do know Colbert has a say in personnel decisions , if Jones played good against the Bengals they wouldn't have called up Derek Tuszka to the 53.

They called Tuszka up because the depth at OLB was Ingram and Jones. They kept him up because while Jones tore it up against guys his own level in preseason against NFL starters he didn't. Tuszka played better but that isn't saying much.

I agree with your original statement but having a good showing doesn't mean anything to Tomlin. Remember Watson ran all over the field and made the 53. Tomlin put him on ko returns and a few short yardage situations where everyone knew he was getting the ball then cut him in the first month.

Last I checked Colbert was the GM, how do you know he wasn't the one who cut Watson.

That's a big stretch to prove a point man but you are right Colbert does make personnel decisions too.

Charlton, ingram, Tuszka. Tuszka came in and played a lot of snaps in the second half. Jones would have to be waived to be put back on the practice squad.

IMO Tuszka was a more willing run defender and that’s why he got the nod over Jones… Because his pass rush was non existent. Most of the time he simply bull rushed and was totally ineffective, from what I saw. Maybe someone who rewatched the game can comment?

Is Tuszka really that good that Jamir needed to be cut?

Jamir was pretty damn good in preseason?

They also declined on a 5th year option on Edmunds.

That's the problem Jones was good in the preseason, but when he got a chance to play in the last 2 games he didn't show anything, I think Tuszka had 6 tackles against the Bengals.
