Watch that. I want to hear your comments. The future of the NFL. James could have gone low and it wouldn't have mattered. Him being suspended is a joke. The refs are so intimidated by the media and the waffling of calls every week that they're calling everything.

Next we will see qbs looking for sacks and ducking their heads into the defenders to draw the penalty. Rubbish. The rules are way too slanted to the offense and they are turning into the NBA and hopefully the ratings will also match the NBA. If they revoked the "bloundt rules" maybe receivers wouldnt get as hurt.

Filthy, stinking, dirty rotten play. Head hunter. I fully expect a suspension. Hopefully for the year.

Oh...my...God! You have got to be kidding me! If that is a penalty then I do not see how you can tackle a qb anymore.

However, please keep in mind that Jerome Boger made the call and IMHO he is the worst, most inconsistent referee there is in the NFL today. Still... get out your dresses gentlemen quarterbacks. You've earned them!

Yes, that's probably true, butI still think it was a bad call. Watt did everything right.

I posted this last night on the other Harrison Thread right after the play happened.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Honestly, they just don't want some QB's to be hit at all and it really seems selective on who can get hit and how.

They threw a roughing the passer call in the Thursday Night game on the Texans player for just hitting the QB. There was a very slight H2H contact but the QB ducked and wouldn't have gotten hit there if he had not.

In the next year or 2 it will be official that the QB cannot be hit. They are sissying the sport to extremes and this will be a rule sooner rather than later.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm telling you that there is not gonna be any single way that you can pressure the QB in the future if this is the garbage that Roger is presenting.

Now how can Ben get planted nearly every time they play the Ravens and most of the time nothing gets called. Certain QB's get breathed on and the hankies start flying everywhere.

Just one play I'd like to see Harrison pick up a QB like a fireman rescue and run straight for the Opposing sideline and gently put him on the bench and pat his head in a good little doggie fashion and then say "is that good enough for you Rog?" Maybe he can grab some Pom Poms from the other teams cheerleaders and give them to him as a bonus.

    This game is getting pathetic.

Good call, bad call, doesn't matter. It's what the league office thinks. There have been quite a few guys fined this year that did not get a penalty on the play. Don't blame the officials.

If the problem is helmet to helmet - then make them play without helmets. Solves the problems. You're not going to lead with your head, and you're not going to duck your head into a tackle.

the ref first said roughing the passer and I was like how the hell can you be roughing the passer on a sack.....then finally he said blow to the head....(which it wasn't)

LOL. The QB dipped HIS shoulder and head into the defender.

I'll be curious to see if this gets fined. I have no love for the Texans, but that's high grade bologna right there.

There was a grazing of the helmets at the very beginning of the tackle but it was completely incidental. One of the ways they might be able to clean / clear the whole helmet to helmet thing up a bit is to handle it similar to the way they do with penalties on the kicker where you have either running in to the kicker or roughing the kicker which is the more severe penalty. Incidental helmet to helmet contact on a play like that could be a 5 yard penalty not subject to ANY fines versus intentional helmet to helmet which would be a 15 yard personal foul and would be subject to a fine. This wouldn't be perfect either but at least it gives the refs another more sensible option when there's contact with the QBs helmet.

If this is what the NFL has come to then the end is near. It's nothing more than arena football but at very high prices. Who's gonna pay high prices for this kind of football? Not me. What a joke...

He got what he deserved. Paid fines last year and still didn't learn his lesson.

Wow. That was an unbelievable call. I hope SOMEBODY reviews these horrible calls and does something about the crew involved. Not that it matters to the Texans anymore.

I'd really hate to see it come down to this but if the refs are going to be paranoid and just start calling everything thats even close it is really going to affect the outcome of games, like it almost did last nite. I feel the coaches should be able to challenge penalties than also.Everything happens so fast on the field wouldn't you want to be able to challenge a game changing penalty.I'm only referring to the helmet to helmet ,defenseless player type penalties, not all of them. 1 personal foul type challenge per game, or a total of 3 overall challenges,it would only be fair. Thoughts?

I'd say give them 2 on anything that results in 15 (or more) yards and/or an automatic first down.

Then again, that might make the refs even more trigger happy. "Just throw the flag, if I'm wrong, they'll review it."

Totally lame call on Watt. However, in the course of that game he was a repeat offender drawing a couple other personal fouls (facemask and roughing the passer). By Goodell's rules, that's at least a fine, if not a suspension.

Don't like the way these calls are going, and the crappy part is the inconsistency at which they are called. How can a defender be expected to "adapt" (like it's even possible) if they don't know what will be considered illegal from one week to the next?

That's your problem right there. There is no Fine structure published for infractions. It's all subjective on how much grief you give the league.
