Steelers have activated Marcus Gilbert to active roster in doing so released James Harrison.

Wish it went down a better way than this but, I guess I understand it why it was him compared to others.

surprised. Had to make room for Gilbert. I wonder if they planned on making him inactive this week, so no real difference. Even if they resign next week, it’s not looking like he will contribute to the playoff success of this team.

I'm amazed how many people bought into the narrative that the Steelers were saving him for something. He has made one play all season, the big sack late against the Chiefs. The few other times he has been able to get into the lineup, he did nothing.

I respect his game, of course, but I can't bring myself to muster up much sympathy. I remember the domestic abuse charges and I know about the issues with violence before he became a Steeler. He was a great player who made tremendous contributions on the field, but as a person, he's not the first guy I root for.

He’s too slow for what our OLBs are asked to do.

Would have been nice to have him involved in Steelers next Super Bowl but wouldn't be much help using a walker. Seriously, Deebo will be missed!!

Wished they didn’t bring him back this year, was like they strung him along.

Too good of a player in Steelers history for it to go down like this.

But, that said it probably made the most sense, as he was deactivated lots of games, and wasn’t gettting many snaps, when he did play, plus he brings no special teams value.

So why did they make room for by cutting him? The Steelers aren't exactly LB rich at the moment.

Clearly they don't think he can play any more. This indicates what we've seen all year, that they believe Chickillo and Moats are better options at outside linebacker.

    What? This... just... ummm...

I don't know what to say. Such an awful way to treat a legend even if it's purely a business move.

I'm holding on to a glimmer of hope that it was just part of some roster mumbo jumbo......I know it's not but this one hurts....

Wow. That blows, he deserved a better end to his career.

I understand its a business and the Steelers did what they think is best for the team but I think they kind of dicked him over.

Shouldnt have brought him back at all then.

Thanks for everything, James! You'll be a Steelers legend forever :steelflag:

Ive already seen some insiders saying he could be back by Tuesday. That he was least likely to be picked up.

But will he want to go back? I doubt it unless they talked it over with him before hand.

Just read something over at NFL.com with a nightmare scenario and hopefully what Ian Rappaport is suggesting.....one is he goes to Pats where he terrorizes AV and now actually starts getting holding calls in his favor or he ends up back with us on Monday......please be the latter, please.

They have been dropping the LB’s into coverage to deal with the screen passes to the RB’s. They are making the adjustments needed because this team could very well win a championship this year. It’s nothing against James, he just can’t run as well as he once did. He’s enough of a pro to understand. I hope he rolls with it and stays around the organization. Troy and Jack took the cut too hard, they have to understand that the team has to do what is needed. He’s one of my favorite players of all time and I think he could make a lot of money post playing career in and around Pittsburgh.
