I smell what you're cookin'. The only spice I'm not wild about is labeling a player's performance/production on anything but performance/production. I could care less about age or draft position. I know that investing draft capital and resources into a high draft pick is expected to pay dividends, and in a perfect world, it should/would. But beyond expectation is reality. Do you let the current team suffer in order to develop a potential star? Or do you put the best players on the field that give you the best chance to be successful? Harrison wanted to play. Harrison was physically ready to play. And Harrison was an upgrade over Bud's current production. The fact that he got splinters was a travesty.

Now, you may be spot on with the way things played out being beneficial to Bud's development. He might have had his breakout year last season because he got those reps while JH rode the pine. I'm just of the mindset that you put the best players on the field and let the chips fall with the rest of them. If you have a hungry player on the bench, wanting more playing time, maybe, just maybe, he puts in extra work to become better than the starter. And I already sense you flipping this script on me and saying that Harrison should have done something to get more playing time. I think his effort, preparation, and experience were enough to demonstrate that he could get the job done. He already passed the smell test. The young pup needed to prove himself, not the vet.

Tomlin is a cheerleader, not a coach. That's why Harrison rode the pine.

EXACTLY!! TOMLIN HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING BAD...EVER.

Let's just continue to ignore the crap that went down on his watch, okay? Let's just keep pretending that everything positive is because of him and everything negative is because of the players.

If it was me, I would have been bringing in JH in the 4th qtr. Let those tired lineman deal with a fresh JH. That could of paid dividends.

Bud still gets his development for 3 qtrs and JH comes on in relief and hopefully makers some big plays.

Ok, I get that logic. But why did Tomlin, JH's bestie, not do this? Could it be that Tomlin didn't think he had it anymore? Or had enough of JH's nonsense? Hoped to get thru the season and let him retire a Steeler hero? Till JH forced his hand to cut him?

It’s a good question. We are debating without full information because we aren’t involved with their practices.

My view is that there was probably a little bit of everything we heard - JH acting up, Tomlin making promises - all of which was pushing against each other. Plus probably some other stuff that we’ll never know about.

It will make an interesting TV film one day.

Harrison is a former star player who misses the attention, remember he teased us about some big interview with AB after he left the Steelers, it never happened .

I took it as coach paid for his fine after the fine came out not gave him an envelope with cash after the game but I was partaking of the frothy brew so maybe I misunderstood hahahahahha

This doesn’t even make news if sports were still going on. I can’t even muster up enough energy to yawn.

That is what I believe; why is everyone talking about a "Bounty"

It was probably a check to repay Harrison for his $50,000 fine? I do not now if it would be against NFL rules to reimburse a player for a fine?

Be curious to known who actually wrote the check?

Ok... I’m not the biggest Tomlin supporter, but there are a lot of very vocal fans who say just the opposite: everything bad about the team is Tomlin’s fault, and everything good is because of the players. Reality is a hell of a lot more nuanced than either of those views.

Does Harrison ever say what was IN the envelope? Maybe it was like an old "Carnac" bit. Tomlin says, "New England" James opens the envelope and a paper inside says, "Where you'll be playing in a few years"!
