I go you one better snack and even if it is a hated but respected enemy, Ray Lewis. The guy came back from a season of missed football to lead the Ravens in tackles and inspire that team in the Superbowl. I don't care if people hate his guts you have to give the man props for what he did during that playoff run.

Here is the sad part though doesn't matter how logical or reasonable our arguments are Steelersrulesix is still going to cling to his believe that younger and faster equals better even though there was a fair amount of proof last season that it wasn't from any of the guys that will be starters during the current season nor will Myron change his mind about Harrison giving the team a big F_U_. However doesn't mean we have to stop trying.

I'm just looking at Harrison as a depth signing. I think you would have a hard time convincing fellow Steelers fans that Harrison is not an upgrade over Carter.

It's a no brainer. He's perfect for depth, I wouldnt want to rely on him for the whole season as a starter but hed be great coming off the bench.

And in the goal line foemation. Jones and Carter are not built for it.

I think you're Harrison's agent as much as you try to defend him lol. I'm just tired of fans with asinine statements like oh well Harrison is still better than the Steelers current OLBs that's just nonsense. 32 NFL Gms disagree also because he isn't on a team, I would rather see what some of the young guys can do in training camp like So'oto, Howard Jones, Zumwalt.

Please provide a link that stats Harrison wants to play elsewhere. From what I've read it sounds like he only wants to play for the Steelers.

Nah, he'd still be a Steeler if I was. He's not going to take the place of all those guys and you left Carter off, there is really zero argument to support keeping Carter over JH.

    LOL

JH and his agent over estimated his market value, the steeler offer was fair and more than any other team would pay him, in fact there was little FA interest in signing him. I dont think the steelers are interested in bringing him back at any price and even if they did it would be contingent on him making the roster at vet mini....

Compelling. I've gotta try your "Help I'm getting my ass handed to me" head-in-the-sand thing sometime.

Ohhhhh all this time this was just an intelligence thing! Why didn't you say so? Now I get it. I'll speak slower.

    YOU

    CAN

    DO

    BOTH.

And you know what? You've changed my mind. Jordan Zumwalt definitely IS better than James Harrison at being a Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker. So are all those other guys. Because as you said, thinking otherwise is nonsense, end of story, no explanation of reason needed.

We don't know what he was offered, Steelers dont divulge that information. He did over value his market though but so did a lot of FA's last year.

I'm trying so hard to stay out of this argument because I'm a huge Harrison fan ,so I might be a little biased. To me it's very simple,it makes more sense to bring him to camp than not bringing him in. Let him compete and let the chips fall where they may. I have a feeling that many of us would be pleasantly surprised and others upset by the fact a 36yr old "washed" up LB is ".better than what we got"

Duh, a OLB has to do more than just rush the passer you really think the Steelers want a 36 yr old OLB dropping in coverage geez. Maybe they like the versatility of the young guys because they can also play special teams.

Do you really think the Steelers want Jones or Carter in on the goal line. You act as if we are saying make him the starter but we're not. Sorry I would taoe a 36 year old former defensive player of the year and as Ike Taylor said looks like the Hulk right now OLB over Carter every day of the week. Hell I would take Joey Porter over Carter. Is it you or Myron saying nobody offered him a contract but at the same time is pushing Moats as the next great thing. Well the Bills let him walk amd he sigmed a one year deal for a reason. Honestly 4th and 1 game on the line who do you want on the line Harrison or Jones? Harrison would still serve a purpose can you say the same thing about Carter. Carter is a decent specials player but with the athletes we have now he is easily replaceable.

I've said it and so have many others... It's a no brainer a win a win... Bring him in on the cheap, let him compete, and if he don't win a spot then we'll all eat our words. He is a better option at backup be it a two or three backup than what we have. If carter or zumwalt or jones beats him out, then that is totally okay by me. I'm pretty sure they won't and thank goodness for the PS in that scenario... Of which carter won't qualify for I believe. But carter has shown nothing to this point. Maybe it's his time to breakout? Who knows. This is getting old, but anyone in their right damn mind knows that James getting 10-20 sanaps a game in relief is not a bad thing.

Remember when we brought back Willie Williams to play CB during the 04-05 season? Not that Williams was a Harrison caliber player during his prime, but he was a really useful role-player for us and stepped in and played well when there were injuries to other CBs.

I think Harrison fill a similar role. Also, let's not forget that our pass rush the past two seasons (maybe even beyond that) has been putrid. I don't see anything wrong with bringing in an older version of our best pass rusher from the past few decades to be a non-starting role player that can come off the bench and help the younger guys.

I never really understood why teams carry 4th string practice squad players to round out their 53 man roster. Is someone like Moye really needed on the active roster as the 6th WR? Do we ever use our 6th WR? Why not carry veteran players who can help lead and teach the younger guys, but can be called upon when injury hits? That makes more sense to me, but obviously I am not an NFL GM.

And before someone bring up the special teams argument, yes Harrison can cover punts. Maybe not kickoffs, but honestly we should have a kicker that can kick it through the endzone the majority of the time...

I think Moats has the potential to be a competent backup, I'm not saying the next great thing. In Buffalo he had to play ILB and OLB and played under 3 different DC.
