Did you forget the green font, or did you forget how logic works?

Yeah, Worilds his hurt all the time.
In fact, over the course of the last three years, he's barely played more games than Harrison in each of those years!

If they signed Harrison, then yeah, it's possible he would start. That's the point of a backup. You know, if they don't sign him, that doesn't help Worilds stay healthy. It just means we have a crappier guy starting in his place if he does get hurt.

No I'm saying if he's signed, that the reason would be that he's hurt again. Yes, he has been hurt every time he had a chance to start and prove himself before last season he was hurt.

I will agree he made a mistake in thinking he was worth more $$ than he actually was. If anyone lost, he did. (He was offered 6.3 mil and got 1.5 mil from the bungals, I think those were the numbers.) But was it him or his agent?

The one thing I did notice was he went out of both games against the Steelers or played very little.

I would love to see him back.

He knows he lost in that situation. He also knows that he is what he is. If the money is right, and I mean vet mini, it's a win. Argue it all we want, but even on his last leg he'd give us better minutes coming off the bench than the lot we have backing up our supposed studs. If he ends starting in the process via injury etc... So be it. Still a good one year upgrade over some of the buns in our oven. NO BRAINER

actually he was making 6 million and was offered a contract to come back at 70% of that.. a 30% cut .. so the steelers offered him 4.2 million and he walked.. he tried to sign with ANY team in our division to punish us twice a year.. how did that work out for him? but he turned down 4.2 million not 6.3...

we don't know what these buns will bring under butler and DL yet. I'd love to have JH back, but I'm not ready to count these others out yet, just young. I don't think the cupboard is bare yet here, and quite the contrary. they may not be superstars but if they can be solid, there is room to grow as they get familiar with this changing defense.

JH was good in the old defense, I have to wonder how he performs in these new sub packages that we run 60% of the time. I believe he and keisel are worth a little more than vet minimum in our system. we either go with the youth movement like we are trying to do or we revert back to what we have tried to hold on to in previous 8-8 years. < for HOF.:smiley1:

it's a fine line. that's why this camp is so important this year. we could always attempt to bring in someone if some of this youth is a complete failure, but we first have to find out.

sure JH and BK will play their arses off as always and they will be solid, but if I can get a young guy to flash some talent, I'd like to see us hang on to that hoping for future upside. they may never equal these two but not many ever will.

seems like they are waiting to see right now. put the pads on these guys and let them mix it up. by the time we scrimmage with buffalo this year, they should see who's bringing it.

I'm also not sure our OLB's have to see 10-15 sacks a year. if we can get 5-8 from all of them including the backups, so be it. fresh legs is a good thing. a healthy rotation keeps guys fresh.

Yes, really. I seriously have no memory of that. Are you talking about when he turned down the pay cut and went to the Bengals instead?

Yeah, there was an F_U in there, issued by the Steelers. I dont see how James is the villain for being told to take a pay cut.

I see no bad guys. Harrison's $ number was going to be huge because he'd signed that massive contract years before. All parties knew that by the last year of his contract, when he was making the most money, he wasn't going to be as good as he was back when he signed it in 2009 or whatever. Then he had health issues. He missed games. He wasn't as strong. The Steelers couldn't afford to shell out that much money for a guy who might miss half the season and play like half of himself.

For his part, Harrison didn't want to lose a ton of money that he felt had been promised to him. He also (wrongly) thought that he could get more money elsewhere. That could have been bad advice he received. I'm not sure. So he left in a quest for more money, and he didn't find it.

I don't remember him ever saying anything disparaging about the Steelers, or acting that way. I thought he handled it well.

That's all ancient history for me. He said this year that he'd like to come back to the Steelers in 2014. I'm sure they've talked. Probably the team will do like we've all been saying, and wait it out awhile to evaluate the young guys, and then sign him last-minute for cheap if they don't feel comfortable with the likes of Moats, Carter, and Zumwalt or whoever else. The team would benefit by paying little for a James Harrison that is healthier than he was when all this crap went down last year, and give a major boost to their defensive depth, and Harrison would get to play where he wants to play, and stay in the show another year (and I'm guessing he's no longer overvaluing himself financially).

:this!:, And, "Plus1", or whatever the online lingo is these days...
    Very well said, Snack.
Especially the part about Harrison, never bad-mouthing the Steelers in the press, or saying he felt disrespected by them.
That is VERY telling, to me, given that he is one of the LEAST self-censored players in the league!
IF he felt slighted, I have NO doubt he would have made his opinion known.
As is, I get the argument that we have a "youth movement" going on.
But, I am more inclined to believe James would help us, more than hurt us(or our "developing players"), if we had him coming on the field off the bench.
At this point, the Steelers seem to hold the cards, since no one else has called Silverback, yet...
I have a gut feeling that could change rapidly, once linebackers start getting injured in camps...
If we wait too long, I think he could be employed by a team that loses a linebacker in camp.
As for Myronwemissyinz... I can usually relate to him, but in this case...
Just ignore him... ya aren`t gonna reason with him. He feels Silverback insulted us, and no amount of reasoning is gonna change his mind.
Myron, I love ya, brother, but yer wrong on this one, IMHO...
    GO STEELERS!

Your right Bleed. I hope I never see that turn coat in Black and Gold again. He turned down a fair offer for what he thought may be more cash. Than wanted back when he found out big cash was not out there. I hold nothing against the guy trying to get every buck he could get. However he was not worth what he was asking and Rooneys felt slighted so told him to look elsewhere. If my last name were Rooney I would never put this mans signature on another contract.

I Love ya too my friend....and I have been wrong many more times than I care to admit. Thats just how I feel about Mr. Harrison.
