Bring Jh back. As long as he is not used in coverage he will be effective.

What's Harrison's excuse for not being any good in 2012 with the Steelers, he had like 6 sacks and Worilds as a backup had 5. He's done get over it I don't want him or Keisel back. Look at Seattle defense they had a bunch of young players who had something to prove, some of them were UDFA or low round draft picks.

He was coming back from an injury and wasn't able to get as low as he normally does when trying to beat the arm bar clutch and grab that the refs let every team in the league use against him. As far as Worilds sack total in 2012 I think if you look into it the majority of his sacks came from Woodley's side because he struggled on Harrison's. The whole team that season had down numbers including Ben and Troy yet no one is calling them old and washed up. Are you seriously holding up the Seahawks as a team we should try and emulate? I will give Pete Carrol credit he was able to get some great play out of guys that didn't standout before this season but that is his situation. Last season you got what you wanted plenty of young inexperienced players on defense who brought a lot of enthusiasm but who were still raw and making mistakes. Which is why there were plenty on here bemoaning the lack of pass rush or stuffing the run, or interceptions things that suffer with younger players without real game time under their belt are put into those situations. It is going to get just as bad this season with the only true veterans with significant playing time will be Troy, Ike and LT. There are going to be mistakes and bad games and just some ugly games. Sometimes Younger isn't better it is just younger. I will offer up one example of where younger can hurt the team from last season.

Goalline stand against the Ravens. Timmons makes a brillant play and meets the running back in the hole. He wraps him up at his lower back and waist and braces himself preventing the RB from leaning backwards to break the plane of the goalline. Williams comes in and it is his first real game and decides that instead of helping Timmons wrap him up and stop forward momentum he is going to launch himself at the RB and deliver a bone crunching hit. Which then leads to him falling on top of Timmons forcing his body further down the running back and allowing him to lean back and extend the ball over the goalline resulting in a touchdown. Young player making the wrong decision at a key time in the game due to inexperience. Not saying it couldn't happen to a vet in the same situation but they would know that the first priority in that situation is to stop forward momentum not deliver a huge hit. Younger doesn't equal better.

All we're talking about is a depth signing, one year at vet. minimum. Why are we making it seem like it's a major multi year contract that is gonna leave us in dire straits financially and personnel wise. We have Worilds and Jarvis who both to me still have a lot to prove. After them tell me who is there? I wouldn't hold my breath thinking a UDFA or rookie draft pick is going to come in and have any kind of impact. Like I said our 1st round pick from last year has a ways to go. Unless we plan on addressing our depth issues at OLB early and often in the upcoming draft ,tell me where is this tree that these guys are gonna fall out of?

At some point you've got to put the past behind you and focus solely on the present and the future. I'm kind of tired of the Steelers' propensity to go re-sign re-treads that we've decided to part company with. I think it's been a way to turn back to the security blanket in the past and I really believe that it's hurt the development of some of the younger players. I'm ready to move on and develop the younger guys we already have or draft or sign younger free agents that have the potential to develop into a capable starter. NO LOOKING BACK!

I just don't get this line of thinking, no one is saying to pass over a stud for him but there are no studs out there, take a look at the FA list. And as it has already been said, its just a 1 year stop gap to add some depth, whoever they draft will be ready to step in next season.

Blast, he had two bad knees and a bad back his last season in Pittsburgh. His play had dropped off dramatically. His season in Cincy led to him being released. I know, I know, it was the system he was being asked to play, not that Harrison's abilities had deteriorated to the point that he's no longer an effective pass rusher or run stuffer. Let's move on. Let's develop some young guys. Let's sign a guy that might be on the cusp in free agency or let's draft a guy we can develop. Let's work hard to develop the young guys already on the roster. Let's stop looking behind us and move forward. We all love Harrison and he'll always be a Steeler, but his days here are done and I really believe there's a good chance that he's played his last down of competitive football as sad as that is.

Hell, if he doesn't get picked up anywhere, he'd be great to grab off the street in case of emergency injury next year. So yeah, get some young guys in there to compete.

 Last I checked 35 year OLB don't get better with age, this defense needs to get younger and faster.

Could be right but last time I checked a group of twenty somethings with less than a year of starter minutes doesn't suddenly become a top ten defense. So be careful what you wish for.

Has nothing to do with looking back, thats not why I think they should give him a call, as I said, its because he is better then what is on the FA market, look for yourself if you don't believe me. Having JH doesnt affect anyone we draft this year and Carter will never amount to anything more then he already has. You can keep making it about sentimental reasons but it has nothing to do with why I think they should bring him back.

I also remember you and others saying JH will do bad in Cincy because of the scheme, now all of a sudden that doesnt matter, that had nothing to do with it. Hmm.

As far as injuries, I'm not sure but I think he played the entire season last year.

He missed a week with a concussion, but other than that, I'm pretty sure he wasn't hampered by injury last season.

Give him the vet mini... Let him play some snaps to spell the other hard hats and voila... Experienced depth for almost no cheddar. It's not about going backwards, it's about depth! I too am tired of some retreads this FO seems to be in love with, but at least bring back a retread that actually amounted to something! Same goes for Da Beard... We could use the man power wether there's been a smidge of regression or not, and so far we can't say there has been either way we argue it... Because there is always another because and what ifs and stuff of the sort. He can still play and at a reduced role may be a hell of a monster coming off the bench

I really don't mind bringing back a player if he adds value, I just don't think Harrison has any tread left on the tires. He's now had two sub-par seasons and I think he's finished as a player. I may be wrong and it will be interesting to see if there is any interest at this point.

Personally I say get rid of anyone including coaches that were responsible for the last 2 years dismal performance. Start with Omar right down to the waterboy

Nothing like a fresh start. By 2025 we will be a team to be reckoned with

I really like the way you are thinking in fact I'd like to add to it. I'd say from here on out no more second contracts. I would also like to set a age limit on our roster no matter how much that player might help. We could either trade away the player who is too old or take care of them ala Logans Run( showing my age a little.....) we might also consider forfeiting our drafts altogether and just pick from the pool of future UDFAs patiently waiting to show all the scouts how wrong they were. I do think that you are underestimating our ability to field a competitive team by 2025. TTF I gotta admit I love the green font idea, especially on St. Patty's Day.
