One of the major concerns people had with Conner was blitz pick up. It was something he worked on. If you look at the end zone view of the Macdonald catch and run versus the Ravens you can see Conner not only pick up his man but manages to direct him into the path of the delayed blitz by Mosely taking them both out and allowing Ben to complete the strike to Mac. I don't think there is enough said about his improvement in this area.

I didn't notice that specific play, but I have seen him consistently getting that part of his job done. The Steelers may have trouble developing defensive backs, but they seem to know what to do with a talented running back. Just like Bell, Conner has made a huge jump from his first season to his second.

146 rushing yards, 66 rec yards, 2 TDs, 212 all purpose yards.

He made sure he finished strong this time.

Is he the real deal yet? Can I get excited now???

You’re going to be disappointed if you’re looking for a repeat performance against the Ravens. I predict around 65 rushing, 15 recieving and 1 TD.

Hope the Steelers have a better game plan then beating Baltimore on the ground. No one has ran against them. Kamara, Ingram, Freeman, Lindsey, Henry, Macafery, all shut down.

Putting 6-7 guys in the box is going to shut most RBs game down. I look for a big day from AB,JuJu, VMcD, JW, JJ.

Of course I'm not expecting that but I do want to see quality and timely running success to help keep the heat off Ben

McCaffrey had a couple of scores against them yesterday but the yardage wasn't there, just 45.

I'd be happy with that from JC next week. We're going to need good Ben to win this game.

Oh yeah I'm definitely taking two scores from JC. Like I said timely running will be more important

    :hmm:

I do not think giving up 72 points in the past four games constitutes as good defense; giving up 30+ in their most recent contest. Baltimore has had to face the likes of New Orleans and Carolina yes, but they were either the top defense or a top five defense during that two week span.

In comparison, the Steelers have only given up 82 points during that same four game span; the Ravens loss included. Pittsburgh was not even in the top 15 for PPG either during that same span. Sure, we can chalk that up to an inept Cleveland offense and Cincinnati game as well, but at the time, Atlanta was one of the top offenses at the time when we played them.

As it stands currently, Baltimore is still number one in points allowed. However, over the past three games, they are 11th in the NFL; Pittsburgh being in the top 10. Furthermore, while it can be said Pittsburgh has had "inflated" matchups, same can be said for Baltimore against the likes of Tennessee, Cleveland (they lost), Washington and Buffalo.

In short? While the totality of the optics do indeed matter in terms of defensive performances, the recent past is of greater importance. This is not the same Ravens defense from weeks 1 to 4; doubly so for Pittsburgh. Will the game still be difficult? Without a doubt. Can Pittsburgh lose this one? Sure.

Is Pittsburgh MUCH different from the last meeting? Without question.

AFC Offensive player of the week. Congrats James.

Running back James Conner was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week after devastating the Browns with 212 total yards off 30 touches. The versatile back put this contest away with long, leg-churning runs, yards after the catch and two second-half touchdown bursts that buried Cleveland in a 33-18 victory.

Really, offensively this is the case.

Brown, Bell, Juju, Sanders, Wallace, Bryant (well, you know, when he plays), crazy good line. It never ends.

I think we will see more of an effort to at least try to run this time around.

Also, Roethlisberger was awful in the second half of that first meeting. He missed so many open throws. I still think he was having issues with his mechanics due to the elbow. Either he is feeling better now or he has figured out how to throw through it.
