Can't say I understand that at all. We haven't even made it to tc let alone Conner doing something meaningful in a game.

It's really becoming a national thing also. People love his story.

 

I lost my mom to stomach Cancer when I was a senior year of high school (2003). Just before my senior year of football. I actually played in a scrimmage the day she passed. I didn't want t,o but my Dad insisted that she would have wanted me to play. A lot of teammates were totally shocked that I was even there. I'll never forget the hugs I got from my teammates, opposing players and the other teams coaches. It's really something I will never ever forget. She was an avid Steelers fan herself and she loved watching football.

My wife's mom was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer right before we got married in 2008. She has successfully beat it, and has been cancer free about 4-5 years now. But, the chemo left her quite damaged, and she hasn't ever been the same that she was, but she is a trooper and has beat it and is still living.

So needless to say cancer hits close to home in our household.

We live about an hour from Erie, PA. Where James played high school football at McDowell high school. So, I can remember following him clear back then. Then everything went down with him with his cancer scare at Pitt. I knew he was an NFL talent even with everything he went through.

Basically, in our household that we both wanted them. I remember telling the wife wouldn't it be cool if the Steelers drafted him and magically it happened. I'm not sure if he will ever be a superstar player, but I think he will be a good player. Glad for him, he's a very humble person. I hope he plays lights out for us.

But, it doesn't shock me 1 out 3 people get cancer in their lifetime, so cancer is bound to hit close to home for a lot of people.

James is a wonderful story. I just hope he adds to it.

 

I hope the kid has a great year. He would appreciate the opportunity better than you know who.

Debating on Watt and Conner jerseys. But I'm super excited about Sutton and ChooChoo so I just don't know what to do.
