"Bengals receiver Ja’Marr Chase said the Steelers came out in a defensive look that the Bengals anticipated during Cincy’s 33-31 win over Pittsburgh on Thursday night.

“They did exactly what we were expecting and hoping they’d do,” Chase said via video from the team’s YouTube page.

“Man (coverage). We knew they were going to put Joey (Porter Jr.) on Tee (Higgins) and put Jalen (Ramsey) on me. We knew that we were ready for it. We knew that we were going to take advantage of those opportunities."

Somehow the opponents expected it, and Steeler Nation knew the defensive game plan sucked, and we stuck with it all game. Such a frustrating team.

Old Steelers would have at least set up some smacks on them and had them thinking about getting hit.

How many NFL players have said something along these same lines......we knew what they would do......? If we are that transparent, there are only 2 options you have. Be so good at what you do that the opposing team can't stop it even if they know what you are going to do. Or you have to change some stuff up. We are not good enough to make it work no matter what if the other team knows what we do, so.........

Honestly, I am surprised that this does not start in week 1. Every year, the Steelers do the same thing for the entire season. All it takes is for 1 team to figure it out and counter it. After that happens, everyone starts doing it to us. I think that the offense does not suffer this problem as much as the defense. Our defense probably has the same exact playbook they used in 2014 with different names.

With all of the analytical tools, video, ai and whatever else that is out there now, if you have patterns they are going to be spotted and taken advantage of. You must run an ever changing game plan.

During the post game interview Flacco's response and reaction to the question about the Steelers bracket coverage speaks volumes. "They broke the huddle and I said OH MY GOD!!"

Except they didn't stick with the same game plan all game long, they tried zone and man but of course that would ruin your narrative.

So even Queen had no tips on what makes Flacco uncomfortable?

No Staff member had an idea?

There’s no book on him ?

    Lame coaching.

There is nothing surprising in which the Steelers do over the past 12 years. Mediocre teams probably look forward to playing our way too predictable offense and defense. The standard is the standard and the approach is always the same. Teams use to fear us and now I believe they look forward to playing us.

And it’s not just opposition players either

Minkah commented a few years into his time with the Steelers that they did a lot more game planning in Miami week to week. With the Steelers they just go out and play their game for the most part. Naturally teams are going to see trends and take advantage.
