Dallas is in a far worse predicament than we are for the "Jamal Adams Sweepstakes". Trading for Jamal essentially means that Dak Prescott is not in their future plans as Jamal is going to command quite a bit of cap space. Keep in mind that Jamal wants to be the highest paid defensive player. Getting him will be no easy task.

    All this being said, theoretically, there still exists a possibility for Pittsburgh to acquire someone of Jamal's talents. However, to do that, Pittsburgh would need perform an immense level of personnel movement and cap savings. They are as follows;

    - Release JuJu Smith Schuster: This is it for JuJu in the Steel City I am afraid. Never mind T.J. Watt. Cameron Heyward has to be extended; either or both Chuks and Zach Banner the same. Even if JuJu does rebound, he will outperform his contract and will likely seek money elsewhere.

    - Release James Conner: A good back.... when healthy. There in lies the issue. Add the fact that the team has invested heavily in that position and it is likely that Conner will not be apart of Pittsburgh's Future Plans.

    - Release Bud Dupree: Granted, I did not feel Bud was going to last in Pittsburgh due to both T.J. Watt's impending new deal in addition to Alex Highsmith needing one season of NFL Training to get his body more equipped. Assuming this hypothetical trade did happen, kiss Bud Dupree good bye.

    - Release Mike Hilton: Kind of a given but Jamal's versatility alone would allow Keith Butler to go nuts; Mike Hilton being the afterthought as a result. I do not know if Mike has a future here either given the uncertainty of Cameron Sutton's impending contract as well.

    - Release Alejandro Villenueva: Pretty much a given. Whether or not he plays for another team though will be interesting. Either way, wish him the best of luck.

    - Release Chukwuma Okorafor and/or Zach Banner OR Release Matt Feiler and Chuckwuma or Zach: Definitely a big gut punch here as you are losing two big pieces for the future of the offense in trade for one player. That said, the Offensive Tackle spot will come down to who is the better between the two. The only reason there is an or inserted in the first option is due to the fact that Matt Feiler could be kicked inside; alleviating the Right Tackle spot for either Chuks or Zach. From there, whomever loses out on that front can play the swing tackle position. From there, play the season out. After the season concludes, have the swing tackle take Big Al's spot as he is likely gone.

    - Restructure Steven Nelson's Contract: Again, we are talking about Jamal Adams being paid the highest Defensive Player here. Someone is going to have to be restructured. Between him and David DeCastro, my money would be on Nelson getting the nod here.

    THE BIG ONE

    - Trade Terrell Edmunds & James Washington w/ an early 2021 Pick OR Trade Terrell Edmunds w/ multiple 2021 Picks : Three safeties on the roster?! Nope! Never mind that, assuming a Jamal deal could get done as soon as 2021, those first two years are going to be the biggest years of cap space being eaten up. In addition, as I have stated before and, I will again, Minkah Fitzpatrick spelled the beginning of the end for Terrell Edmunds as Edmunds did not make the jump many of us hoped for. Adding Jamal Adams into the equation gives the team a secondary capable of nullifying any Pass Offense in the NFL. As for James Washington, Pittsburgh does have a fail safe plan for him in Chase Claypool. As stated before, Chase will be more than ready in 2021 and most definitely in 2022. However, these two would not be enough. Adding a 2021 Pick would likely close this deal as Marcus Maye is likely out as well by 2021. If the Steelers want to retain James Washington though, Pittsburgh will have to throw in Terrell with some SERIOUS Draft Capital for such a move to work.

Again, this is colossal movement in terms of personnel and cap. Never mind that, the series of moves have an unthinkably, colossal level of assumptions. However, none is bigger than the development of Mason Rudolph. Assuming the team does see Mason as Big Ben's heir apparent, even more restructures will have to happen to accommodate Mason Rudolph as he is going to command a large sum of the Salary Cap. Now, this will not bode well for Jamal as, among the players likely to get hit with a restructure, he tops the list. Add in James Washington, assuming he is here and there is little to no reason to believe that Jamal's monstrous contract would be the first to anger Jamal.

Now, assuming Mason Rudolph is not the heir, Pittsburgh is likely looking yet again to spend another early round pick on a Receiver as I doubt Pittsburgh is willing to give up a 1st Rounder. Said first rounder will likely need to be Big Ben's heir apparent. Saving that is key. However, forgoing this route means that Pittsburgh will have little high end draft capital to increase their chances to trade up to get their guy. Even if the team could pull off such a move, they will have little to no draft capital available by the time the storm settles.

Keep in mind this is for one player. However, this one player adds yet another dimension that the team did not have; unrivaled ability to blitz from anywhere. Keith Butler would lose his mind trying to figure out new ways to blitz with Jamal. Not just that but now, running three safeties really is not needed as much thanks to Jamal's abilities. For that matter, Antonie Brooks Jr would be the biggest beneficiary as Jamal has more than enough range to play the two Deep Shell Coverage; Brooks Jr. given free reign closer to the line of scrimmage. Yes, Jamal is best suited closer as well but he is not limited to just that area..... just do no expect him to be Minkah in coverage.

Overall, I would say I would pass on Jamal Adams. As much as I would want him, the cost is too great. Now, Malik Hooker likely being a Free Agent in 2021?!

That is a player I can get behind assuming nothing major happens to him again in 2020.

Yeah man one player is not worth all that you said lol even if that one player would make this defense even better. Besides, teams need balance these days on both sides

Not interested, you would have to give up at least 2 picks, and pay $15 million a year or more.

Adams is an elite talent but no thanks. Too many guys to pay already.

I can’t think of any team that will give up whatever the Jets want for him (presumably multiple 1st’s or a 1st and multiple later picks) and then subsequently make him the highest paid defensive player in football. You’d have to be crazy to do that deal. Chicago did that with Mack and look at them now, albeit the Trubisky pick may have been a more damaging piece of business.

From a Steelers perspective they already have two young superstars in Watt and Minkah and they should have a few more good seasons from Cam. Build around them through the draft and with clever free agent signings like Nelson. While the thought of adding Adams to an already stacked defence is absolutely mouth watering it’s not realistic from a roster / cap point of view.

That’s an ideal fit football wise, they are really missing a player like him. They couldn’t tackle anybody last year and gave up huge YAC in some games. Don’t know how they’d pay him though with Dak looking for mega money and deals done with Cooper, Smith, Elliot, Lawrence etc. They have a lot of guys on big money now and it’s going to catch up on them.

KC and Baltimore will be in that same spot soon once Lamar and Mahomes come looking for money.

Jamal Adams is an elite talent no doubt. However, to say he is a game changing force a la Minkah Fitzpatrick or Derwin James is pushing it a bit. Both players have transformed their defenses into something incredible; Derwin James' Rookie Season and Minkah's two Seasons doubly so and no less.

Jamal is an excellent overall Strong Safety.... but only a great Safety overall. For such a high ransom, said Safety has to transform the entire defense and add another dimension that they did not have before. As such, it is no surprise to me that Dallas has not, and will likely not, make a move for Jamal Adams.

Now, seeing Dallas rip open huge sums of money to a player like Malik Hooker?! That would give Dallas the final boost it needs. Too bad though that the Dak deal is the main reason why Dallas will likely have to opt for the 2021 Draft for one.

Dallas is still missing a few important pieces for a SB run imo. Namely a elite head coach ala Gibbs, Noll, Walsh, Johnson etc.

I don't see them winning their weakened division even with J. Adams. It could happen, depending on when & how bad Wentz hurts himself.

Says who? I don't put their sorry results solely on incompetent Garrett. It was a team thing bbh.

Wentz is up here on the good/great QB that can win the game carrying the team.

Dak is down here on that chart. Needs more opportunities to move up. In today's NFL game, that carrying the team to victory is priceless for a QB. Dak is a few fries short from being that happy meal.

    Thank you Lord. :hehehe:

    Very much so.

He is a true Single High, Deep Center Fielder. Not just that though. Indy has added some tools to his toolbox to allow him to play Strong Safety a bit. Health has been his main issue.

Should he stay healthy in 2020, look for him to command a high price tag. However, such a price tag for such an invaluable piece is worth the admission price.
