His ability to use his emotions and his football sense has always enabled him to get a step ahead. He was a huge part of this victory tonight and it should not be understated.

Peezy! I love it. Great job bringing him in to help coach. Whoever did that gets a tip of the hat from me.

He's lucky he wasn't flagged. According to NFL rules, he's not allowed on the field and the refs would have been justified in flagging him 15 yards.

How and why does he ever get on the field? What are the rules concerning coaches
on the field when a player is hurt? This will be looked at the league office I am sure.

I know this is getting a lot of publicity this morning because of Mike Silver, but I've watched it a few times and didn't see Porter instigating anything. Joey is just standing there and Burfict comes up to him and starts jawing. Fast forward a bit, and as they're walking AB off, Burfict goes up to talk to AB or pat his back, and while doing so, side pushes/inadvertently elbows the small, older Steelers staff member, who in turn, tries to push him out of his space. As Burfict is jawing to the refs about it, Porter says, what appears to be something to the effect of, 'you should keep your hands off of him'. Then Gilberry, poor innocent Gilberry, comes up and body checks Coach Porter from behind. Pacman appears to lose his cool, and shoves a ref, who wasn't having any of that.

As for a coach being on the field, when there is a serious injury a member of the team's coaching staff (or two) is almost always out there. I've never seen it penalized. I would send Joey out there, too, based on the chippy crap the Bengals hooligans like to pull.

They were talking on NBC today about the meltdown in the studio, then they bring in Collinworth who is in Seattle just so he can whine about Porter being on the field....

coaches go on the field all of the time... especially when a player is hurt. You cannot enforce that rule when it's never been enforced for years when an injury happens. This is total BS and if I'm porter I'd fight that to the courts because there are examples of "coaches on the field" in almost every game you watch. AND there is NEVER a flag or fine.

You can also see porter putting his hands up and walking backwards while the thugs are basically going after him.

^ This. There may be a rule against it but I've never seen it enforced when a player is potentially seriously injured. How often have we seen half the team come out on the field and pray in a circle next to a downed player? If anything, they just need to clarify what the rule is and consistently apply or not apply it.

Coaches come on the field all the time during an injury. Only reason this is a topic is because Jones, who's cranium is void of any substance, tried to pick a fight with a coach.

I don't care if Porter was talking trash, good for him if he was, good gamesmanship, he turned a difficult FG into an easy one if thats the case. Every Steeler fan should be applauding him. I know I am :applaud:
