Cheer up, the cupboard is not completly bare. I have seen our personnel
much worse than what we have on this roster. The Steelers need to make a statement, whether
it be in the draft or FA. A Bettis type trade possibly to reenergize Steeler faithful?

Ben probably has 4-5 prime years left.

Until he's done, this team has a chance to win every year.

It's not easy to win SB's in the NFL.

yeah, it's definitely hitting us all at once (hines, hampton, aaron smith, polamalu(?), farrior, harrison(?), etc) . . .

what we DO have going for us is an all-pro center going into only his third year, a franchise qb with another 5+ years left, a pretty solid and young receiving corps, and some talent and youth in the running game. give us a solid o-line, and this team can be pretty damn competitive (offensively, at least) for another 5-7 years.

on the defensive side of the ball, it's going to be interesting to see how heyward and hood step up. can we find the next big snack in the draft? can we upgrade our secondary and find the next farrior at ILB? we've certainly got more question marks on the defensive side of the ball but it seems that the top teams in football these days (giants, new england, green bay, new orleans, etc) have strong offenses that compenstate for marginal defensive play.

it'll be interesting to see how it plays out. 6-10 seasons are no fun at all. we've been spoiled. hopefully, art rooney can steer this ship with the same patience and leadership that dan and the chief did. hopefully we can maintain consistency with omar khan and kevin colbert making the personnel decisions without too much interference from above. hopefully we can continue to allow our young, talented coach to continue to lead our players. this team has been consistently great for forty straight years now. hopefully, we can continue to maintain that consistency.

it's in art's hands now. will he try to put his stamp on this franchise or will he merely continue to maintain what his predecessors built?

Since Art II took over in 2003, the Steelers won the SB in 2005, ending the 25 year drought. The Steelers won the SB again in 2008, and appeared in the SB in 2010.

Yes, lets all hope the Steelers are still successful while Art II is president.

you totally missed the context of my post. not surprising for a guy who spells pity with two t's.

spin it any way you'd like, but dan rooney was THE leader of this franchise until he took on the role of ambassador to ireland in the summer of 2009 (AFTER the sixth lombardi was won). art II merely inherited the 'president' role as dan took on the 'chairman' role of the organization. as dan has spent more time in his new venture, art has taken on a bigger role in the operation of this franchise. art is slowly becoming THE face of this organization. since 1988, it has been dan.

but go ahead and label our most recent two super bowl titles as art's work since he "took over" in 2003.

Carry on pretending that you have some in-depth knowledge of what everyone’s role has been in the Steelers front office.

Well.... I`m not sure the exact rule, but I`m sure I had an english teacher or two, who would`ve killed me for starting a sentence, with the word "and"...(At least you capitalized it)... It`s like a preposition, or something...
Conjunctioun?... Yeah, that`s it, I remember the old Schoolhouse Rock cartoon, now...

You probably could have scored a couple more points for use of commas in that sentence, too...
