Obviously it's between Ben and Bradshaw. Two different era's in the NFL so next to impossible to compare. Bradshaw had a better defense to cover mistakes. Bradshaw didn't have to worry about the almighty dollar taking away key players like Ben did.

Just recognize. Whether you liked Ben or not he was a huge part of putting 2 more Lombardi's in the case. The last one in which we lost he didn't have his best game but lets be real the defense let that one go. Plus that dummy Mendenhall sealed it.

The current staff stood and watched as the once vaulted defense turned to dust wasting close to a decade of a franchise QB. Maybe could have had a few more Lombardi's.

Yea he's a drama queen and has had a checkered past at times. Bet you all loved him when we were winning though huh?

    Just recognize. It's that simple.

    Turn the page.

That Green Bay team was a pretty good one and at that time Rogers was hitting his prime.
Still it was among my favorite Super Bowls though my team didn't win.
Dick Lebau - I can't say enough about that guy, he made Steeler Defenses resemble that Steel Curtain. Troy was a complete weapon.
One of the few defenses that actually plotted how to score on offenses.

I always felt that a bulk of that was caused by outside forces. Terry casts a big shadow in Pittsburgh as evidenced by this thread. Ben had a lot to do to get to the edge of that shadow. Terry had a lot of issues with Chuck, Pittsburgh and the fans to work through and I'm not sure he has gotten all them done but a good portion of them he has. I think those things influenced Terry's and Ben's interactions in the early years.

I'm not going to speak for Jeh he has that taken care of himself. I'll just say that everyone deserves a second chance and forgiveness and I can do that. However that doesn't necessarily mean you should be their best friend afterwards. Maybe it could happen, maybe it couldn't I'm not sure beyond the fact that I personally would be very guarded in that regard.

Yes, and I had proof, but that would have required throwing my brother under the bus. And the accuser went to her grave still thinking I was quilty.

That’s not even where I was going. He has enough other body of work to make judgement on.

Like buying K9's for multiple police departments or his make a wish charitable contributions?

Ben gets a bad rap for some things but hardly gets any credit for good things he's done off the field.

I was going 2 say I know I have been accused of things in My Life I swear I didn't do, and some 2 this day believe I did. Even 40 years later. Even after it came out who actually did the thing. Because they couldn't believe He would do it, and they were hell pressed that I did because of How I looked ,and dressed compared 2 most at that time. It was small town :bscow:

About your avatar, the only toes mason will be stepping on is ours.;)

The females of my family always wished we had Brady instead of Ben. Not for football reasons but for looks. Now the dumbasses are excited we have a hot QB. Probably why we use to put them in another room during the game.

If Brady retires it could cost Ben his first ballot HoF vote. Apparently the voters get weird about 2 QBs in the same class. Even if they both got in, Ben would be overshadowed and would not have the last speech.

One of the Penguins greats was announcing his retirement, it should have been one of the biggest days in his life, I don’t remember who it was, and that is the point. Mario then decided to announce his retirement at the same time.

Rings a bell but name won't come to me. Was that Ben's first or second retirement? 1997 or 2006. Was it Jagr??????????

    I’m thinking Recci or Toccette
    Maybe Joey Mullin

It was Joey Mullen, Recci played until 2011 and Tocchet until 2002. It's not surprising about Mullen because even though he was a solid player for the Pens and well known in US hockey everyday hockey fans didn't follow him. Those early 90's teams were stacked with great role playing guys.

It was "Slippery Rock" Joe as the great Mike Lange labeled him. Not a great skater. But he had soft hands and offensive instincts that can't be taught. I believe at the time he retired he was the leading scorer among U.S. born players. I think Mike Modano holds that distinction now.

I got hooked on hockey and the Pens in 92 when Sega came out with NHL 94 my brother would always choose the Kings or the North Stars because they were stacked with talent. I'd play the Pens but at the time they only used jersey numbers so I had to seriously get into digging to find the roster. So I really was into the whole team, Ulf, Kjell, Kevin Stevens, Ron Francis, Jagr, Joey Mullen, Erry Brown, Jim Paek, Murphy, Trots, Coffey and of course Mario.

Yep, what a team. And their best team got knocked out by the clutch-and-grab freakin' Islanders, in a series I think signaled the beginning of the Dead Puck era. That was a tough pill to swallow, up there with the Steelers loss to San Diego at home in the AFC Championship game and the Pirates loss to Atlanta in the NLCS in'92. I hated that little ba$tard Darius Kasparaitis.........until he was a Penguin. His goal celebration when the Pens beat Buffalo to win a playoff series and his brutal but clean open ice hit that knocked out Erik Lindros were two of my favorite memories of him. The Lindros hit afforded me dark pleasure, much like Juju's hit on Burfict. And BTW Thorny, I had NHL 94 for Sega, too. Me and my buddy would play. He was always the Rangers because he liked Jeff Beukeboom and I was always the Pens. Lots of beer and ball busting involved. Good times. Wish the hell I would have kept my old Sega, and my PS2, PS1 and Nintendo. I basically gave them all away.

Well, Brady makes it official. Yesterday was the last we would have heard Ben talked about nationally. Ben’s First ballot HoF bid is now 50/50.
