I would definitely say its debatable also, but it's difficult comparing free agent era QBs to those who played prior. A QB who makes it to multiple SBs in the free agency era seems, imo, a lot more impressive than a QB whose team was able to retain all its stars over a extended period of time. I dont know how you could go wrong with saying one or the other was the greatest Steeler QB...one of the few debates where there are no losers.

I think Terry Bradshaw is the best steelers qb. More rings, undefeated in sb, league mvp, sb mvp, and was all decade in his Era. Ben has done none of that.

I go with Terry because he accomplished more individually. He got a sb mvp, league, mvp, led nfl in tds twice, and was all decade of his Era. While Ben played in the salary cap Era it wasn't like he had completely different teams from his sbs. Most of the main core was still there except the guys like porter, bus, etc.. who retired.

I saw both QB`s career in their entirety with me being a 62 year old. Bradshaw was along for the ride in the first two SB wins. 78, 79 seasons the team depended on his arm.

Ben was not called on to do much in his first SB win in a typical Cowher ball game, his main contribution was getting us there. Second SB win was the memorable late game winning drive to save the day. Don`t know if Bradshaw would have done that.

Big difference to me is Ben started fast, Bradshaw slow. Bradshaw got better with age, Ben declined.

Bradshaw had the best defense around him for most of his career. Ben had a mixed bag, a few good years of defense. Some years in near chaos.

Comparing stats don`t help much. Different time early in Bradshaw career where QB only expected to have more TD`s than INTC`s and pass 50% completions. Then that changed as the rules changed and so did Bradshaw`s output.

Cannot say who is really better for his time.

Now if we only drafted Marino. LOL.

Man, could he throw a football.

Dark times ahead boys. Hopefully it doesn't last too long. I don't know if I could handle another Kordell. Once in a lifetime is plenty, thanks.

Good comparison. I'm not old enough to have seen any of Bradshaw(born in '83), but I was able to witness all of Ben's career and he came along when I was old enough to know what was happening and watched nearly every game. You cannot really compare QBs from 15+ years ago to the QBs of today stat wise. All we have to go by is how the QB was regarded in their era and did they win. Terry made the all decade team in the 70s and Ben did not make any all decade teams. Ben was going against some of the best QBs of all time in Brady and Manning and I'm not knowledgeable enough to comment on Terrys peers beyond just stats, but him being on the all decade team to me seems like he was one of if not the best qb in the 70s.

Both qbs were amazing and won football games for the steelers, so I cannot pick who I think is best, but wish I could have watched Ben win 4 like Terry did.

I'm sorry wasn't this you two days ago?

I'm slightly confused about your position on SB MVP. Is it important when it's convenient and not when it proves how unimportant Brown was in his Superbowl career.

Thankful to have Ben as QB for Steelers over the years. He will be missed. Too bad the last half of Ben's 18 years were squandered.

Cap savings is a bit illusory. The team will need to absorb cap dollars for his bonuses already paid out. A post June 1 retirement just shifts dead money from the 2022 cap to the 2023 cap. So cap relief for one year becomes a cap burden for another.

I'm with you and saw them both too. If you look at SB hardware, then you go with TB, if you look at stats, you go with BB. It's always tough to get into the greatest discussions without variables being associated with them. I could agrue either way.

Bradshaw was league mvp, led nfl in the possession 2x, first team all pro, sb mvp, and all decade. All things ben didn't do.

Say what you want about Terry Bradshaw but Noll made the most of his career with 4 Super Bowl wins.

As much as Bradshaw elevated his game in the playoffs he couldn't overcome allowing 40 points every game. He wouldn't have had any more success than Ben 2013-
