On "Lynn's Day", I have to add his sideline high wire catch in Super Bowl X to the list of greatest plays in Steelers post season history. Not only was it about 3.5 decades ahead of its time, even in this decade+ now of receivers making similar catches, I still doubt there are more than half a dozen who would make that same catch today in the same situation.

I decided Jefferson deserved to be mentioned because his trade helped the Steelers to eventually draft John Stallworth. One of you older posters tell us how good Jefferson was on some of the worst teams.

Roy Jefferson was an all- pro receiver in the late 1960's leading the NFL in receiving yards in 1968. He put up big numbers despite having QB's like Kent Nix and Dick Shiner passing to him.

Did you ever play the arcade game NFL Blitz? My older brother hated playing me on that game because I'd use Bruener to just destroy him. Loved how he played.

I never played NFL Blitz. Bruener is one of the all-time unsung players of the Steelers. Guys like Joel Steed, Randy Grossman, John Banaszak, Craig Wolfley, to name a few of many, who did their jobs, so other players could make plays and become stars or hall of famers.

Years after his retirement I was in a restaurant where Swann was. He was a little chubby. That just kind of caught me as funny.

I know what you mean. A breakfast joint I use to go to always had Bernie Parent (Flyer Stanley Cup goalie) holding court at the counter. I'd look at him and wonder how that fat guy could move so quick in the net. Growing old sucks!!

Bernie was a great guy. More then once he paid for everybody's coffee and he would get everyone to boo me when I walked in saying who let the Penguin fan in?

Gary Ballman was a very good WR back in his day, in the category of Roy Jefferson - very capable but at the mercy of very bad QBs. I liked Nate W. And Calvin Sweeney - supposed to be the 2nd coming of Lynn Swann out of USC but.......never materialized in the least IMHO.

Troy on D and Hines on O - talk about getting spoiled. What an incredible time for Steeler fans with those two at the center of our entertainment. 86 remains my only numbered Steeler jersey I ever owned. :applaud:

Bill Nelson to Gary Ballman, sure brings back the memories. Just to show how the game has changed from predominantly a running league to a passing one, Ballman made the Pro Bowl in 1966 with 41 receptions and 663 receiving yards.

Maybe back in 1966 Pro Bowls were a measuring stick. Lately, they are nothing more than a popularity contest. Look no further for proof than Maurkice Pouncey making his 9th Pro Bowl in 2020 during arguably his worst season ever in the league.

Same can be said about a lot of awards in the NFL.
    Like ....
Last year with Watt and the DPOY, if you really do the research, you will find many more.

    Yep.
Aaron Donald - 13.5 sacks, 28 quarterback hits, 14 tackles for loss

TJ Watt - 15 sacks, 41 quarterback hits, 23 tackles for loss led the NFL.

These awards are a complete joke and these stats prove it.
