All of these Top 10’s, and no Jack Ham? To me he’s at least Top 5. He wasn’t the flashiest or the highlight reel hitter, but I think he was the guy who did the most in terms of run defense, coverage and blitzing. A true 3 down super backer with no weaknesses whatsoever.

Two names on your list suprise me. Ray Seals and Merril Hoge. I wasn't expecting to see those names on these lists.

Just curious. You passed on a lot of great backs to add Hoge to the list, and a lot of great defenders to include Seals.

i don't think ray got enough credit. he wasn't here long but did a lot of unsung damage. hoge was a player with so much heart. not big enough, not fast enough, but worked his tail off in a time that we weren't full of greats but he made us better. two players that i really liked. under dogs if you will. another guy that could have made the list as one of these types and a favorite was thomas everett. he and seals i wish we could have kept.

That is the cool thing about lists like these. There have been so many great players here over the years that no two people will have the exact same list.

I was a fan of Hoge and Seals as well. The way Hoge played in that playoff game against Denver. I think it was 89. He kept us in that one almost single handedly.

I swore Elway broke his neck in that game. Alas he did not hahahahaha... Hoge was a stud that day and still my favorite player as a kid.

Funny that we have a thread 9 days until Steeler kick off and #8 until Steelers/Bills. I'm thinking it will continue this way. Let's see if Sunday it is 8 days until Steeler kick off and of course we will be at #7 in mytake's thread.

I will do a much better job for number 7 though later on today!! Fair warning though!!.... this is where the list will get interesting for certain; more so than already!! For those of you who need up to speed until Steelers kickoff, please refer to the link above!

I also implore that you read the beginning as that section details and highlights the guidelines that was used in the rankings!! Number 7, will again, be up soon!! Stay tuned!!! :herewego:

Let’s see how interesting. There’s a certain 70’s defender who hasn’t been mentioned yet who was 6x first team All Pro, 8x Pro Bowler, 70’s all decade, and on both the 75th and 100th anniversary teams, and who isn’t named Greene, Blount or Lambert. My favorite Steeler as a kid, and the guy who I think was the weld that held the Steel Curtain together. Will he make the Top 10?
