He might be a decent pass rusher... but he isn't very good against the run...

I don't see him helping us this year...

Haha, I see what you did there. Funny because I was thinking making one for him too :lolol:

And I totally agree, lets see what these guys can do.

I'm a big fan of Ola. But I'm not all for throwing the rookies in. We are substituting so much on defense we cant even keep track of how many men are on the field.

Pick a starting lineup, and minimize the substitutions. It will build continuity and improve communications. We look like a train wreck right now. Throwing all the rookies in is not going to help matters. It's going to make it worse.

I think he looked decent against the run. Certainly no worse than Dupree. He gets how to set an edge. He looked very out of place dropping in coverage though.

    Indeed.

Keep in mind though that, coming out of Toledo, he was primarily a pass rusher. Spot dropping was not something he ever worked on because he was not needed for that role.

As you said though, in terms of setting the edge and being good at rushing the passer, Ola seems promising.

Knowing our coaches he won't see the field until he becomes a better cover LB than pass rusher since that's what they seem to prefer....

Good points, but on 3rd and long might not be a bad idea to throw him in and see what happens.

I want to see mr Seminole get some snaps with Vincenzo out... Ain't holding my breath. Ola might get some snaps come time and I wouldn't mind seeing that as well. Either way, get the best product on the field when healthy and git er done

I don't see Ola playing that many snaps, he will have missed half of the season. Matthew Thomas has been healthy and he can't get any snaps at LB .

So who are you taking out then? Dupree who is playing really well right now, or TJ Watt? Ola's best days are ahead of him. With all the problems we have on defense now isnt the time for player development.

What? He is playing, yes, but really well? Key on him today and get back to me. As Watt is getting mauled, Dud is being pushed around by the wind.

I would be all for Ola coming in on 3rd and long replacing Dud.

Yeah. You have a point. I guess I should have said Bud is playing really well by Bud's standards.

Ola can't play until after week 8 I think it is, that's half of the season.
