Really Jack? You're steeling my "how I became a Steeler fan story"? I posted it under a thread dedicated to the topic and now everyone is going to start saying the same thing ;) Except mine was on the advice from dad on a bet with my brother. :yeehaw:

Been a fan since 1972- my first pro football memory is the Immaculate Reception.

I'll always be a fan- and the championship run in the 1970s also came in my childhood, with the last 2 of those coming at a particular difficult time in my life when I needed to follow a champion. So, on a personal level, being a Steelers fan has brought me great joy in my life and the team will in many respects have a free ride from me forever. The recent 2 Super Bowls, were to cop a phrase from Eric Bogosian, the icing on the gravy.

I am less disappointed, in some ways, with this season than I was in 2006 or 2009 or 2011, in which they should have made the playoffs but did not. I've been resigned since week 1 that this will not be a winning season so anything positive this year from now on in will be a plus. I am perplexed however and concerned, because I don't see any easy fix coming for this franchise any time soon- unless Le'Veon Bell turns into Jim Brown or some reasonable facsimile.
