I mostly agreed with your original post minus the part about the owners. I just thought the other person made some valid points in general not the part where here was jumping on you.
    I'm 43

Myron I know after looking at that handsome face in my avatar it's hard to believe I'm 43? you had to be thinking late 20's?

The only reason I asked your age Glenn was when Burgh said A (as in one) down year. And you agreed. Been here for 41. We have had a lot more than A down year. Just thought you were a lot younger. Thought that was a pic of your dad.;)

As stated...This season is the worst I can remember in my 41 years. I was not a STEELER fan in the 30s 40s 50s or 60s.....Sure they were a lot worse!!

admittedly, for someone who only started watching football (and the Steelers) midway through the 05 season (although back when it wasn't looking too good...) I'm not really used to watching bad seasons (although know it from my days as a kid playing soccer ... holy he** we sucked :( )

still, looking forward to the future ... they'll turn it around. ideally without a quarter-century gap between Super Bowl wins ...

Lets look at our team from the Noll era forward. To be fair to Coach Noll lets throw out his first year 1969 when we went 1-13.....1970 5-9, 1971 6-8, 1972 (when i became a fan) 11-3.....Skip to our next sub .500 season 13 years later (and will only post sub .500 seasons from here forward)...1985 7-9, 1986 6-10, 1988 5-11, 1991 7-9,

Now we welcome in the Cower era.... To be fair to Coach Cower we went 11-5 in 1992 his first season.... 1998 7-9, 1999 6-10, 2003 6-10 our last sub .500 season.

Now we welcome in the Tomlin era....To be fair to Coach Tomlin we went 10-6 in his first season (2007) and have not had a sub .500 season under him. With us now sitting at 2-6 with 8 games remaining. It would not be out of the realm of possibility to go 2-6 the last half of season and finish 4-12. And THAT would be the worst season I have ever experienced in my 41 years as a STEELER fan!!! Just sayin' I might be right....Hope Im wrong!!

Obviously this season is a major frustration. It's hard for some to think this team is a bottom feeder. We as Steelers fans have had plenty of up's! I to have lived through many downs, through the Noll era, the Cowher era and now the Tomlin era. Is this season any worse then the past? I will reserve judgement till the end of the season. Coach Tomlin stated at the beginning of the season that this team was in a transition. Colbert didn't agree. Tomlin was right. Now after this season has ended we will see a total rebuilding. It has to happen. Their are so many issues. And being pressed to the cap is not helping. Time to let go of vets that have passed there time. Even if it means a few down years. Some say get a left tackle in free agency. This team couldn't keep Keenan Lewis. It's going to get interesting after this season. I would like to see a change. To me Tomlin stays, but LeBeau and possibly Haley need to go.

I am a Steeler fan, I bleed Black and Gold. Proud at this point? No. Living in the past is good for fodder. This team needs a major overhaul, and no one should be safe...

I have been a fan since 1975 (so not quite as long as Myron but pretty close). I will ALWAYS be a Steelers fan (as I have gone through Bubby and Kordell and all the other no names we had at QB during the 80's and 90's). However, its not a great a day to be a Steelers fan. Im not sure how anyone can think it is. As I said in an earlier post, I am not a Steeler fan only if they are winning - I can handle losing seasons. What I cant handle is lack of passion, discipline, and addressing the issues that are so obvious, my mother can pick them out.

Don't most teams that lose look that way though? Teams that are 2-6 I mean? I don't mean 11-5 teams, teams like that, their losses could look different but teams that have abysmal records like ours, it probably just looks that way but the truth is probably closer to being they just suck

1975 for me too, Beard. Won my first bet when I bet my best friend a quarter that my Steelers (that's right, MY Steelers) beat his Cowboys in Super Bowl X. That led to my gambling addiction which culminated recently with my successful treatment through Gambler's Anonymous. ;)jk about that last part

I too have been through some ups and downs and I know that the Steelers will be up again at some point. But I mentioned in another thread that it's just not that we're losing, it's how we're losing. It's how we come out game after game seemingly flat, uninspired and unprepared. It's how we're setting record after record that we don't want to be setting. It's how the teams we're playing are setting performance records against us. It's how we're achieving our worst performances in history in several key categories.

I realize our talent level has diminished, but I can't help but think is it really our talent? What would Belichick or Payton or Jim Harbaugh or Mike McCarthy do with the talent on our football team? Maybe our talent is average, but really good coaches can take average talent and make it competitive. Unfortunately, competitive is not a word associated with the 2013 Pittsburgh Steelers. Nope, not a great day (or even a good day) to be a Steeler fan. But I am a Steeler fan, and more good and GREAT days are ahead!

I think it was Bum Phillips who said of Don Shula.."He could take hisn and beat yourn. Than take yourn and beat hisn."
