To hope that Mike Wallace FLOPS this year but that the Steelers TEAM has a very successful year with Atonio Brown being named the MVP and Emmanuel Sanders firmly establishing himself as the number two receiver? I'm sorry but I'm going to have a difficult time rooting for the guy this year. Of course ask me again when he burns Ed Reed over the top for an 80 yard touchdown and I may feel differently about the matter. ;)

Nobody hates the hold out more than me, but you have to understand many of these guys come from very meager and humble backgrounds. They have worked at this for many years and see a possible small window. I can't begrudge them trying to secure a handsome lifestyle for their future. It's hard to begrudge them the opportunity. Wallace isn't playing this out well for us as fans, I got that. If he comes around I think he should get some grace to earn the money and respect. Besides, hoping for him to fail is good for who?

    :lolol:

I hear ya though. I think a lot of people are going to have that problem at first until he starts scoring touchdowns and burning defenders.

With that comes the caveat: success is no guarantee.

He could go Bo Jackson with a hip injury and be done for life.

I met Jeff Reed at a charity event at Heinz a few years back and told him how badly I wanted him to re-sign with the Steelers. He just kinda shrugged and said he waned to be here but what the team was offering wasn't even close. He told me he needed to think about his family and that he really wanted to help his mom and dad retire. He was turning down millions to pursue millions more.

In the end, well, Paul Harvey can fill 'ya in . . .

Needless to say, I think his parents are now working a couple more jobs than they were previously.

I root for some players more than others because I like them more. I never liked Joey Porter or DeWayne Washington or Tyrone Carter. Like, not just that they weren't my favorites. Actual dislike. But I still rooted for them to do their absolute best every single play. If one of them got an interception, I'd be pretty damn happy about it. I could never root for someone in our uniform to do something badly.

Anyway, Wallace flopping doesn't make the Steelers' tough stance look good at all. It makes them look like idiots for wanting to sign him to a long-term deal and not trading him.

On the contrary - I want him in camp at day break tomorrow and signed for 8 years and scoring 15 to 20 TD's per year.

Are you sure you're a Steelers fan?

You might want to see if you have a fever.

Yep, I am a card-carrying Steelers fan but I am NOT a Mike Wallace fan. I just think that Wallace has behaved like a diva throughout this entire process and I have a hard time rooting for players like that. I won't root for him to goof up and cost the Steelers a game but I hope he's less a part of the game plan this year and that AB, Sanders, Rainey, et al step up to the plate and render Wallace insignificant. If that happens, Wallace will forever regret declining the 5 year, $50 million contract the Steelers offered which seemed more than fair given his performance to this point in his career. I realize that players have to watch out for their own selfish interests but he has elevated himself to a position of grandeur that he has not earned.

There is not a person on this board who would not be set for life with that kind of money.

Wallace won't regret declining the contract he was offered unless he suffers an injury. Another team will pay him millions of dollars based on his abilities and overall production if he can reach free agency.

People continue to talk about the overall value of the contract like it's significant. The guaranteed/signing bonus money of a contact is what really matters for players.

Wallace earned his way to this point of his career, earned the highest possible tender for his years of service, and earned whatever contract the organization offered him. To believe otherwise is being misguided. Why would the Steelers offer him anything if it wasn't earned?

So I take it you were not happy with Hines when he caught the clinching TD in SB40? He held out that year during the Summer and reported about the same time Wallace is.

Also, please provide a link with a quote from Wallace showing any Diva remarks during this whole thing. And please do not provide the "Fitzgerald money" stuff as that was reported by the media as a rumor and everyone ran with it.

I hope he goes off and is an ALL PRO and Suber Bolw MVP

lol, fans are funny. There's not one of you here that wouldn't try and get as much money as you could and what you think your worth is. I'm pissed at Wallace as much as anyone because he's not here helping my favorite team. Once he gets here, all is forgiven as far as I am concerned. He makes the Steelers a better team, that's the bottom line with me, winning. I seriously hate when they lose on Sundays and puts me in a foul mood the rest of the night.

I hope Mike comes out and has a great year, and they can keep both him and Antonio for years to come.

As good as Sanders is he is becoming increasingly expendable. So far Sanders hasn't even had a A.R.E. type season.....

It looks like Rainey will be a weapon. Mike, Antonio, and Rainey is all we need from speed receivers.

I don't want him to fail I just believe that he will....He is looking at this Money thing all wrong...He is not going to get Fitz money anywhere even if he has a mega season....The most a WR like Wallace can get is around 70 to 80 Million IMO and the Steelers offered him 55 Mil...So he should have took the deal and stayed with a winner got into Camp ,worked hard and made that money up....Players get extra money for playoff games, plus they get extra money for the Superbowl, not to mention endorsements Movie,Radio, and sponser deals you get for playing on a winning Team...

I have no respect for any Offensive player who holds out with a new OC and a new Offence to learn...His agent even told him that the Hold out was pointless...If the Hold Out could have got him more money then that's one thing, but it had no chance of that and everybody in the World knew it....Now he has hurt the Team without a doubt now we will have to see just how much.....No way is he in Football shape,No way is he up to speed with the new Offence...

As I stated in another thread a while back his dropoff the 2nd. half of the Season was no fluke...Teams started putting there Bigger,Stronger, CB'S on him and jamming him....I wonder what took them so long?He is to fast for the fast ,but he is weak against the strong....So Mike needed this off season to work on his route running, his blocking, getting off the line,he has failed to get better and I expect a whole year from him similar to the last half of last year...

You know how quick are we to forget that Rod Woodson walked after wanting to be paid top corner money and not wanting to be dropped back to top safety money.

We see how that worked out for him, he ended up actually playing for less and being a safety as well. Sure he got his ring with Baltimore, but he made less while doing it.

It only puts you in a foul mood for the rest of the night? Do you really call yourself a fan? You should be upset the rest of the week or, at the least, until the next time they win! (Of course I'm being sarcastic because I think it is funny when someone calls out someone else's fandom for a comment that they make or an opinion that they have)
