Dan Marino and Joe Montana would be PATHETIC in this offense.

You think that's horrible news, wait until he gets a three year extension after an 8-8-1 season.

You know, that is true. I've seen many comments recently that have started with "I really like Tomlin, but..." or "I've always been a Mike Tomlin fan, but...". Even those who have supported him in the past are starting to turn against Captain Cliche. I like Tomlin and I think he has a lot of great qualities. He may be able to go to another team laden with veteran leadership and strong coordinators and do just fine. Kind of like the situation he had here his first few years in Pittsburgh where there were veteran leaders everywhere you looked and Dick LeBeau as DC. But the fact is, his message, for whatever reason, is no longer resonating with the Steelers. It's grown stale. Everyone is tired of his overused cliches and Tomlinisms. Sure, they're entertaining and the national sports media fawns over them, but most of what he says is just empty rhetoric. Like I've been saying, Noll's time came and went, Cowher's time came and went, and now Tomlin's time has come and gone. It's time for him to, as Chuck Noll would say, get on with his life's work.

The Tomlin era, from 2011 on has been bittersweet - great regular season play from Ben, AB and the defense, but always a let down in the playoffs. Like we became a vulnerable, average team come playoff time. And there was always the gimme games we gave away during the regular season. Basically, I felt our talent for the most part carried the coaching staff, and when we needed a strategic plan in the playoffs when the talent level evened out - it wasn’t there. Always heightened expectations in the beginning of the seasons fueled by sports article predictions putting us as contenders - and it always fell short. Were they wrong or did we underperform ? I feel it was the latter. I myself am looking forward to a change of coach and staff.

now we still have talent but the team is young and it’s not nearly as good as the Ben era - and we have the same coaches, maybe worse, older, more jaded. We’re a middle of the road, mediocre team at this point.

I'd have to go back and see what my final # was - I seemed to feel we would be 1 or 2 games over .500. we MAY get there, may not. But doubting playoffs now, after watching this for 4 weeks.

i am curious - is this a new thought for you, or have you felt Tomlin was just good all along for the past 10 years or so and are now seeing that he wasn't?

I have been ready to move on for a long time, I am just curious what others think....

That's when I bag it and wait until he is gone to save myself the cortisol overload in my system. The Mrs gets so upset with me that I get so mad watching the games. She's like why do you do this to yourself. Lastly, what's so f'd up about this, is that your comment is a real possibility!!

I was done with Tomlin after the Jacksonville playoff loss in 17. Even though a lot of people still had faith in Tomlin up until now. So I sort of thought maybe I was too quick to judge. Now I think my first reaction was right and maybe now most people are finally realizing it’s time for a change.

I wanted to believe, but felt the time to move on when Colbert and Ben left. When Colbert decided to stay that extra year I felt it was a mistake, a new GM should make the decision on who he wants to build a franchise with, that includes HC and QB. As an organization we have become stale, there is a pride in having only 3 HC's in over 50 years, but you also handicap yourself with that past.

The changes MT said were coming, well we are going to practice with pads, that is the answer for sure! The year is nearly 1/4 done, and I know you cannot realistically put new schemes in for both O and D, but when you have regressed 10 pts per game, from an already putrid 17 ppg last year you do not stay the course. You demote or fire Canada, put Glenn Thomas in his place, get some O consultants in and figure something out. But we put pads on to show we are serious about getting tough.

Funny but the other day I had the same thought about myself.

I was at the last home game and I normally keep a printed roster with me. I don’t think I looked at once.

I will keep buying my season ticket and going to games. I want to see the 100th anniversary.

I wish this team was doing better and better maintained. I feel the same about my bag of bones but I’m not ready to dump it either. :smiley1:

I’ve been there for at least 3 years whenever the Jacksonville game was

And yet trolls have called me a homer and Tomlin Defender

Apparently if you don’t say it over and over you just don’t count

One nimrod seriously has 73 redundant posts since Sunday

Why Did so many teams pass on Joe Montana???
Why did so many teams pass on Brady???
Why did so many teams pass on A. Rodgers, Roger Staubach, B. Favre, and so on.
You could also ask the opposite....Why was Sam Darnold taken so high, why was Trey Lance taken so high, why was Trubisky taken so high, why was Josh Rosen taken so high, and so on. Because they made a mistake. Where You are picked doesn't automatically make You bad , or good.

Most of us are mad at the state of this team. I'm a bit older and have now been watching games a bit more relaxed. I used to go crazy beyond imagination but never broke a TV just my health. After that debacle on Sunday this has been the first time in a long time where I was mentally and physically sick after a game.

Attacking each other because were mad at the team has no value.

I feel major changes need to happen. That included after the season the staff is shown the door. I believe they need to hire an Innovative Offensive Head Coach and he brings in his own staff. No one on this staff is worth retaining.

Some like the rinse and repeat, the cliches, white noise, word salad. Most of us don't.

    17 years are long enough.

That team was devastated by the loss of Shazier. The defense never recovered. The offense had way too much talent to tear the whole thing down and they weren't going to get rid of a coach with one Super Bowl victory and another appearance on his resume after making the playoffs. What were they supposed to do? Go back in time and teach Shazier to stop leading with the top of his head when he tackled? (Actually, now that I think of it, the coaches probably should have tried harder to fix that.)

After the following season, when they pissed away a playoff berth in part due to Tomlin's poor decisions, it would have made a lot more sense.

Man I miss the days when me and Blast used to argue about Tomlin. At least back then we had good teams and it always seemed like we had the potential to be a contender, it just never quite worked out, but we always seemed to be close.

Now the entire team is burning and there's no one around to put out the fire
