I hate to be that guy, but it’s time for Tomlin and his staff to go. Time to get a new fire and philosophy.
We’ve seen many different players over the last half a decade or more and we keep experiencing the same type of problems.
For the first time in probably 40 years I don’t think I could name every starter on offense and defense. It’s sad, but I just don’t care anymore. I’ve been about as loyal of a fan as you can be, but enough is enough. I can handle losing, but not being competitive and sloppy, is not what I’ve grown accustomed to being a Steelers fan.

Just think of all of those teams that got whipped by rookie Ben and Steelers in 2004. Sucks to be on the wrong end of it.

Ben was great and also the steelers had such a great coaching team on both side of the ball in 2004 and 2005!

Also our WR coach was a future super bowl winning head coach(Bruce Arians)!

I’ll clarify one thing I said above. I said we will need to be all in on a QB next year. What I mean by that is if we do not see Pickett again this year, we’ve seen enough to need to get the best QB we can, and I would trade capital if the right guy is there. Of course if he returns this season, he’ll have an opportunity to flip the script. I just don’t see it though.

Coordinators are, at least relatively speaking, easy to find and replace, and - compared to skilled players - are basically dime a dozen. Despite the claims of some, there are potentially several coodinators out there right now who don't currently have a job but who would nevertheless be a represent an immediate upgrade over Canada. Hell, for all of his flaws, Todd Haley's not doing anything important right now and he has a demonstrably better record of success as a playcaller than Canada ever or ever will.

By comparison, QBs of any talent level are in relatively short supply. Many teams will struggle to find available QBs with even just marginal level of skill or talent. As such, it's generally far more difficult and expensive to acquire someone to play under center than it is to cancel a failing coordinator's contract, or ink a new one.

For whatever reason, though, the Steelers ownership puts staff "loyalty" first, and thus, have more concern for honoring contracts with coaches than they are with the safety and success with the players that they're paying tens of millions. That this is even a problem for a team as storied as the Steelers would be hilarious if not for the potentially dire implications of keeping bad coaches around that goes far beyond contributing to a bad or middling record: Players could literally face serious injury as a consequence of a coach's incompetence - a sad fact that was that was potentially made obvious today with the fall of Kenny Pickett.

    For those in the back...
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Even before this game today I was thinking how stale the team has gotten over the years. Mentioned it a few times in the game thread. I feel its time to move on not only from Canada but you gut the fish and start over. I want to see an offensive minded Head Coach.

Top to bottom this is not a well coached team. Stale to say the least.

Tomlin says there is going to be changes. Hopefully he as well as his whole staff are packing their bags. Pathetic.

I don't think it's a Rooney decision, although he could suggest or outright order Tomlin to conduct interviews with outside quality candidates in order to fill open positions. I think it's Tomlin. I believe he doesn't want an assistant or coordinator that would question any of his decisions. I also think that he wants total and complete control, so he promotes from within to build loyalty to him. In the spirit of full disclosure, I heard this theory from Paul Alexander on The Fan a couple of weeks ago. It makes total sense. I think his last high profile assistant hire was Munch as offensive line coach. Alexander believes Tomlin may very well have felt threatened by the likes of LeBeau, Haley and Arians. I agree with his take.

Would have been nice to keep Brian Flores as DC and bring in Eric Bienemy as OC last offseason because you’re right we need some new ideas and fresh concepts.

True...It's been so long the Steelers have needed new ideas for at least 10 years now....Hiring Keith Butler in 2015 was such a disaster too

He was awful. And let’s not forget good old Randy Fichner. Oof

These are two guys, just like Austin and Canada, who wouldn’t even get an interview with another NFL club.

Ok, they all look great on Saturday, then come Sunday? Purdy who has marginal athletic
Ability is tearing it up. I think more people need to consider what is being coached
And such. Why do other teams have receivers running freely in open space Does Purdy ever get pressured is he constantly having Ol in his face. Does SF open up running lanes for a rb to run to open space. Just somethings I wonder about
    When watching pro football.

If you’ve been paying attention, then you know that I have one and Tomlin gone for at least five years. So I don’t know what you’re yapping about.
