I find the no trade clause irrelevant because even at the mention of the possibility, they'd burn a bridge that may never be healed. If a trade happens its because Tomlin wants to leave and both sides feel it's mutually beneficial.

As for Tomlin's contract, the team picking him up would negotiate a new contract, which equals a raise. Essentially the trade compensation is really paying for Tomlin's buyout.

That is what I was saying. Only major reason that it doesn't happen is that, for such a trade to occur, Tomlin would have to sign off on it. I don't see that happening unless Josina Anderson's report turns out to be true indeed.

Will have to wait and see.

    Perhaps.

That still doesn't solve the biggest current roadblock though; assuming AR II would even entertain that idea to begin with. Again, AR II has already been on record in stating Tomlin is going to coach until he leaves. For that matter, AR II doesn't seem to be in any rush to jettison Tomlin out of Pittsburgh.

Art II just seems conflicted. On one hand its reported that he's upset and running out of patience, and on the other hand there was zero significant changes with the coaching staff. Its really going to come down to Khan/Weidl wanting to take team building in a different direction than the past few years. That seems like the angle where we see either Tomlin leave or Khan and/or Weidl leave. The roster needs to get younger and I'm sure Khan/Weidl are tired of this stagnation.

I imagine both are. However and again, here in lies both their issue. AR II is the boss. Until he steps down?! Nothing of consequence is going to happen.

Only way change can happen is if both Tomlin and the Steelers suffer a complete meltdown. That is it. Beyond that?! Tomlin isn't going anywhere until 2027.

Anyone compare Tomlin when he first started and today?

He looks tired…and probably living off fast food, judging by that gut he has now.

…living in his fears… looks more like he is living in a bag of donuts.

I dunno losing both Khan and Weidl would be a major wake up call for Art II, and if they dip out (which they're probably not; I'm being extreme here), minority ownership is going to get extremely vocal. It's really going to come down to Tomlin wanting out, and nothing really indicates that he does until Heyward and/or TJ retiring.

The lure of a pay raise/fresh start could warrant Tomlin wanting to leave. He can pull a Bellichek and resign, and then become a coach elsewhere then they'd negotiate trade comp to pay for the buyout.

George Pickens is great. JaMarr is either the best WR in all of Football or a very close second. Even more so?!

JaMarr has been among the very best during his Rookie Season. George is currently in year four. Massive difference.

    He could.

That said, a major factor in all of this is does Tomlin even want to leave?! He hasn't expressed any desire in doing so. Again though, unless Josina knows something far more than she is letting on, Tomlin isn't leaving until 2027.

As for Khan and Weidl leaving?! Of the two, I am far more worried that Weidl will. He has been a hot GM Candidate for a while now. 2026 could be the year to do it.
