Some people here suggest the Steelers should fold and lose on purpose for a higher draft pick 10 games ago. So if management listened to them, it could be rigged.

    Wow.

If you think players don't care about losing, you don't know athletes. These guys have been winners since they were kids. It's what they do.

If you think the games are rigged, why do you watch them?

    Did he go out?

Saw it on the highlight and I still can't say he stepped out.

I don't believe the league office sits down with the head of officials, or any of the officials, and says: "We want this team to win." I do not believe that.

But do we live in a society where personal feeling or bias gets in the way of our objectivity? You better believe it. Do certain teams get beneficial calls at key moments of games? yes. Certain players? Yes. It's always been that way...and in all sports. Michael Jordan always got away with traveling. Greg Maddux always got away with pitches that were at least six inches off the plate. Why? Because they were Michael Jordan and Greg Maddux, not Tom Tolbert and Zach Duke.

Yes, this is an infuriating part of sports.

I do agree that gambling plays too huge a role in sports. It's for "Las Vegas" that teams have to report injuries.

I am also on record as saying that CBS having a "Sports Grill" adjacent to Gillette Stadium is a bit unethical (especially since the restaurant is all about the Patriots). So CBS, who televises the games, has a vested interest in the Pats' performance. How can that be good?

What's plaguing the NFL is a constant changing of the rules, in a sport where the players are faster than ever. And then there's also a lack of consistency in how rules are being enforced.

I think the rules are clear, but leaving it up to the refs to make judgement calls clouds the rulings a lot: How about that non call when Gronk was held in the endzone and the pats didn't get one last down at the one to win it, I think most of these bad calls average out, seahawk fans still believe the steelers won the superbowl because the refs gave them the game, and some of those calls were bad like ben sneaking the ball in the endzone, then a PI call that wasn't flagrant in the endzone that cost them a TD, usualy fans don't mind penalties if it's against the team they are playing, but when it gets called on their team it's a travesty, more calls are correct, more often than not, it's more scrutinized when it's late in a game and it appears a call costs a team a win, that's when it hurts the most.....

Well, same thing at the end of the Super Bowl last February.

In both cases, a non-call is better than a call. Notice how the media went into a frenzy over the Gronkowski non-call but...crickets, crickets, crickets...over the bogus call on the Browns? Ridiculous. It's about the media having a stake in the game. The Patriots are a story. The Browns aren't.
