i agree that we don't have to win the final pre season game, but I also think the O line needs the work and play them at least a half.

2s 3s and 4s playing against 2s 3s and 4s hardly generates any interest in me as to who wins, game 4 in preseason is a boring ho hummer... ....

the things im looking for in the last game

    1. no injuries
    2. whos stepping up thats on the bubble right now
    3. it would be nice to see the 1st team offense score a td that doesnt require Ben running for his life and making a play that pretty much only Ben can make
    4. can the special teams get it together
    5. will the oline get it together

not a must win game, but it would be nice to go into the regular season with a win and get rid of the bad taste the 1st 3 games have left

Must win a practice game? um, no. Who cares what stats say regarding this. This fourth game will have 0 impact on the regular season. Stats said no 6th seeded team can win a Superbowl, look how that did for us.

    My main questions are:
    1. How much playing time wil Gradkowski see?
    2. What does Felix Jones have to show to become a serious contender for a roster spot?
    3. Who do you think would be on the bubble, if Felix Jones does win a roster spot?

if Jones makes the team than either LSH is gone or Dunn is gone. Jones will probably be the return man if he makes it in my opinion.

i think we are looking at Dwyer and Redman battling for the #1 spot and when Bell gets back he will be in the mix at some point. LSH is probably the change of pace guy unless Jones really shows something in the last game. i think they carry 5 rbs for now.

Does that include Will Johnson or not?

i think Johnson is the only guy they have listed as true FB. i kind of look at that as a different position then RB.

im not sure of the numbers and how they break down, but if it came down to either carrying 5 rbs or 6 wrs i would rather see them carry 6 wrs.

i would like to see them keep AB, Sanders, Wheaton, Moye, Brown and Cotch.
at RB i would like to see Dwyer, Redman, Bell and either LSH or Jones. i really dont think they should keep both of those guys since they are kind of the same player. Jones is a return man which bodes well for him. not sure if LSH has ever been a returner.

We are thinking along similar lines with looking at the WR's & RB's at the same time, but I could see them keeping both LSH & Jones (for a backup role as 3rd down back, on returns, etc) and again the real battle (depending when Bell comes back) being between Redman and Dwyer. Right now, ones got to say that Dwyer has the edge.

With the current RB injuries and all the young recievers, it's very hard to predict what they will do.

Dwyer definitely has the edge mainly because hes been healthy. i also think he does have the ability to be a very solid back.

i think Jones has the edge just because of his return abilities. Dunn has the explosive big play potential, but unfortunately the NFL has pretty much taken away the return game for the most part. right now i will give the nod to Jones over LSH. too bad LSH got hurt.

Good discussion, and let's face it, the Steelers probably aren't even sure what their going to do yet. LOL

Since the beginning of camp, I've thought Dunn gets cut and LSH stays. I still think that's the case.

Curious, who do you think will end up being the punt returner in regular season?

The boy's fast when he gets a shot!

he had a nice 45 yard return and he turned the corner on a couple guys that had the angle on him.

Yeah, I'm the opposite of TTF on this one, I've had a hunch from the beginning that he makes the squad.

People LSH isn't GOING anywhere, he knows how to play the game and is a much more valuable RB/return man than either Redman or Dwyer. So when our great rookie RB comes back and takes all the snaps, you have too many RB's on the roster. Is Felix Jones just a rental? Are the Steelers giving him another chance? Is this Dwyer's last chance here in PGH?

I don't care if they win in the preseason. However, I want to see fundamentally sound football. To date they haven't blocked very well and they're not very disciplined. Unfortunately, we probably won't see much if any of the starters tomorrow so the real litmus test begins in 2 weeks. Preseason is for ironing out the kinks. They've got a lot of ironing to do.

Must win no. Must stay healthy yes. I think both LSH and Dunn make the team. I think they find a cut someplace else. Dunn is like jet fuel. That kid is fast.

I've wondered if Dunn hurt his stock by not returning kicks when it appeared he had some room to run. I think LSH will make a great change of pace back. He looked awesome in the first preseason game. I hope he can look that good in the regular season. He's definitely pretty fast too.

All these questions and more will be answered when the Pittsburgh Steelers Season 2013 continues! Lol! Ward you should be one of those guys that writes for tv shows doing the tease! I'm eager to know those answers myself.

Dunn is a burner but I think the only sure-fired way he makes the team is to take one to the house tomorrow night.

I like jones and thought he looked quite quick through the holes. especially since he had no practice yet. I wouldn't write him off yet. this isn't your fathers steeler offense this year and a whole different skillset is in order from our RB's.

the plodding big back isn't going to work in this offense. quickness and vision will be their best traits this year. LSH has shown us that with this blocking scheme and we need that same style of backup behind him, because he's not built for taking a lot of abuse.

That's my thought, too. If you're going to be such a specialist, you're going to need to show you're super special. Hopefully his shoulder injury doesn't hinder him this week.
