I noticed that the switching sides with the OLBs isn't helping Dupree very much. Watt is making plays when rushing and seems to be better against the rush, is Dupree done?

If Dupree doesn't get any better can the Steelers rescind the 5th year option or is it too late? I hate myself for being down on young players like Dupree, Davis, and Burns but none seem to be improving and one looks to be getting worse.

Does anyone think giving a 5th year to Dupree will pay-off or will they just be wasting another season on a breather type player? Am I being too harsh in his assessment?

I don't think he is that bad. I mean is he a pro bowler, no. not everyone can be. he is a good player who seems to be ask to do a lot. I have seen him drop more than watt this year.

I haven't looked at the defensive stats from yesterday, but I don't recall Watt doing much more than Dupree?
Dupree is the new whipping boy around here. No matter what he does it will never be enough for some.

They can rescind the 5th year offer to Patty Cake Dud.

The difference between Dud and Watt is that Watt can take over the game at any point. Still waiting for Dud to do this. And waiting, and waiting...

They should've drafted some LB's this year, instead of another WR and QB neither of whom are contributing right now .

Probably right. Let's see if we can get something out of OA when he comes back. Even though he probably won't play because he can't "cover" giv me a break we need a pass rush. I still think Adams should at least get a look. I'd rather have a 4th OLB right now then say McCullers who is doing nothing and playing maybe 5 plays a game....

Watt didn't do much either yesterday, but it seemed he got dinged up, maybe had something do do with it.

Bengals did a good job limiting the edge rushers. Most of the sacks came from middle pressure.

Keep in mind Bengals were averaging 30.4 points a game coming into yesterday. We held them to 21. With our defense I consider that a win.

I think the Steelers will sign Dud Dupree too another contract. Not a big one but on par with an average olb.

butler did them no favors. the passes were coming out so fast from the red headed step child that the pass rush was pretty useless. we should have gone to man coverage and made him hold the ball a little longer. of course with VW covering a WR i'm not sure that would have been a good idea either. c'mon butler, really?

I actually think Bud has played pretty well the last two weeks. I don't think he will ever be the impact player we all hoped for after using a 1st on him, but he's a capable starter. if you can trick yourself into thinking of him as a 5th or 6th rounder he doesn't seem as bad. At least that works for me lol

The difference is watt is a football player with instincts, play making ability, and he understands for the most part his job. Dupree is just a combine darling with a poor football skillset.

Dupree is serviceable. His outside speed rush move sucks because he goes too wide and deep and takes himself out of the play. He has not lived up to his potential but we have bigger problems. Namely Artie Burns and Vince W in pass coverage. Any decent NFL QB will absolutely exploit those two. We need to switch it up after the bye but with tweedle dee and tweedle dumb running the D expect more of the same.

I think Porter was a great player in his day, but I'm not sure he's coaching material. Bud Dupree has way too much natural God given talent to not be more effective. After 4 years, he should be making much more of an impact. I feel with a new LB coach next year, he could improve drastically
