He never cost us a game, no. But to say he was anything other than our worst offensive lineman this year (by far) is delusional. He was massively penalized this season, and was dreadful in pass pro. Our line will get a huge boost from having Pouncey back.

And while Foster can surely be upgraded, what cost are you willing to spend to make that happen? If we spend a high draft pick at G, we lose out on a secondary player who could help us more than a G would. You willing to spend more money on the line? I'm not. If we pay Beachum, we would have big money invested in every position outside of Foster. You gotta be smart with your money. The level of play we get from Foster for the amount of money we pay him is great. You have to have guys like that playing for you to win it all.

No. He's too good and his cap hit will be huge if cut.

Wallace is not good. Don't believe everything you hear.

Wallace was the most penalized center in the NFL. He allows a lot of sacks too.

I agree the contract is not favorable for getting rid of him. I guess well see. His contract certainly balloons these next 3 years. Yeah he played well enough before he got hurt, but eventually it will take its toll.

You can find good centers that you can win with anywhere in the draft though. Pouncey has never been there in a big game for us, ever. He's always been hurt. Some guys are just injury prone. It doesn't do us any justice to consistently have to get guys off the street to be our #1 and #2 centers on short notice.

Outlined in blue is the Dead Money. Another Woodley type deal. A killer if he is cut. Even next season. 2018 would be the time. They are stuck. I hope they don't restructure him and create more dead money. Yes he a top notch center but with his injury concerns I can't see any team taking a flyer on him.

Someone's gotta go and I'm thinking Coates is going to push out either Bryant or Wheaton. DHB is a good #4 and we didn't draft Coates with a #3 draft choice to be a #5 receiver.

    Yes
Proved by him missing the 2008 playoffs and we lost in the SB
He went down early this year and if AB had played we would be on our way to NE
    He is already EXPENDED

Dang jeh1856 I was ok till I read your post. Too dagone true. I say send pouncy to free hernandez and try to keep all four receivers. I know it will not happen that way but, that's my story and I'm sticking to it

I`m afraid the final analysis is we cannot afford AB. He will be let go just like all the other #1 receivers who make their name here.

That`s a shame. I was ok with the likes of Holmes, Wallace and others not getting paid, but AB is something special. It will be horrible letting him go and our offense will suffer. We should keep him if possible, but I just don`t see how.

Really? What team, other than the Steelers, did Hines Ward play for during his career? He was our only other true #1 receiver since 2001. Burress was not the #1, and had off the field issues. Also, this team was built around the defense in the mid-2000s.. So that's where the big money generally went. Wallace played out his rookie contract, but hadn't established himself as a go-to #1 guy. He was offered a pretty good contract, but declined and left. Again, that was back when most of our payroll was tied up in defense.

Brown is a savvy route runner and has great intangibles. He should still be a solid contributor for us, even as he ages and slows down. Kind of like a Marvin Harrison.

I think he is but there is no way you let Wallace take over the center position. He made a great effort but he's not an every week player. We need a left guard and we will be set on the oline for at least 10 years. Pouncey needs to return at full strength.

I would not trade Pouncey. I wouldn't even if his cap hit was $0. He's a special player and we'll need him for our run next year. I know he's missed time, but so has Bell, and I don't see anyone wanting to trade him. Both are about equal as compared to their peers, meaning we probably have the best center and RB in football. Yeah his injuries have sucked, but the major ones are all freak accidents, like when Troy went down on the field goal block that one year. I'm not worried about Pouncey until he continually shows up on the injury report with hamstring issues. Plus he's the leader of our OL.

If Cam Heyward tears his ACL next week training, and then breaks his ankle in 2017 missing two years straight, I wouldn't want him gone. The loss of leadership and quality of play would be drastic. Just like Pouncey. You don't get rid of guys like that.

I really like Cody wallace. Thought he should've made pro bowl. But not familiar enough around the league yet

I think Pouncey is a better Center than Wallace.
The injuries are my issue. Why keep a guy that can't even play?

If you trade pouncey then you trade him for a proven defensive player in secondary. We are not rebuilding we are going for a championship. Never trust a player in the draft.

my only concern with pouncey and bell are will they be as good as they were. their legs are what makes them so good in the past. i'd give up either to sign AB if it came down to that.

i'm not saying wallace is the answer either. cody is creeping up in age too. he's a good backup to have around though.

No you don't get rid of a pro bowl center. When healthy he keeps the pocket clean and gives Ben that much more time for our WR's to get open. I like and admire the job Wallace did this year but comparing those two it isn't even close. That is like saying you would give up Big Ben for Teddy Bridgewater. One is all pro and the other is a solid player.

The issue lies in that Brown will arguably be the highest paid wide receiver ever! The deal that Hines Ward got was not a cap breaker.
Brown deserves to get paid. And will want to. But can the Steelers invest that much? Guess we will see what happens.

AB can look at Wallace leaving a proven QB for a big money contract. Yes AB wants to get paid and rightfully so, but he should give consideration to whom is also throwing him the ball.

They don't have to worry about AB new contract until 2017.

Put Pouncey at guard and let ramone walk... No brainer and would make Wallace and even better center option

Sounds like from the Tomlin press conference he lauded Beachum's position flexibility all along the line... I'm wondering if that means Ramon walks, Al is our LT, and Beachum is our LG or dare I say Center?

Seems like Munch likes Finney and Hubbard who are also position flexible.... and I'm deferring to Munch cause that guy is a zen master when it comes to offensive line.

Yes I know. But he still will be if not the highest paid receiver one of them. It will be a monster contract. They will be on the hook with Pouncey at 8 mill dead money as well. They also have to make a decision on Bell. This should get done this year as well as DeCastro. The Pouncey contract is a killer.
