I know trades really don't happen that much in NFL, but would you give him up for say a 2nd round pick?

That's a tough question. I would say no because center is a really important position and he's still pretty young. But given his injury history (Although not really his fault). I think it really depends how susceptible he is NOW to injury and who else we want to retain long term on the roster.

Depends. Is the 2nd round pick Le'Veon Bell or Mike Adams?

No. We would take a big time dead money hit. He will be on the roster next year. Maybe he'll be on the field too. ;)

Only if it's a trade you can't resist. But, Pouncey will be back next year.
That being said Cody Wallace did more than average job this year. He played well.

Can't fault a guy for being hurt, but you need to ask yourself if all his injuries have taken a toll on his body? Can he perform at the level that is worth his contract?

AB will want to get paid, Wheaton will want to get paid, Bell will want to get paid, Bryant will want to get paid....someone's gotta go and Pouncey is more expendable than those guys

He never should have been extended for that huge price in the first place. Now we're stuck with him. At the least, the Pouncey contract will probably make Beachum go elsewhere.

Pouncey is talented but I think we saw that it is not that big of a downgrade when Wallace is in there. Wallace is alot cheaper too.

Pouncey is a better pass protector but Wallace is a much nastier run blocker. I thought he and DeCastro were great together.

Pouncey's cap hit is about 10.55 mil in 2016. If he's cut or traded, the dead money is around 11.6 mil. So, it would cost us 1.05 mil against the cap to part ways. Folks need to understand this reality when considering whether he's expendable.

Well that blows, guess we let Foster go and move Wallace to LG which sucks too.

Why do we have to do that? We're not in cap trouble.

As I said in my prior post, we have many players who are going to want to get paid. Yes the cap is going up, but there's still a cap and tough decisions will need to be made.

How is someone who never plays NOT expendable? It's not like trading him would cause us to miss anything. I love the guy and think he is one of the best centers in the game when he's healthy, but how many games has he played over the last 3 or 4?

Just because we're not in cap trouble NOW doesn't mean that we couldn't put ourselves into a better cap situation. I'm not sure what will be out there as a FA, but if there is a quality, veteran safety, I think we should go after him rather than trying to draft. Time is running out with Ben.

Even if we trade him, we get stuck with dead money? That sucks.

All I know is, the Steelers have a history of not paying their WRs and we cannot let AB walk after his current deal is up.

They won't need to get rid of anyone they want. I'm not in love with Foster so it doesn't matter to me if he goes. I think it comes down to Wheaton and Beachum not being retained. With Coates and Villanueva around that's no problem at all.

Expendable in the way that we still have a good team without him... But having to live with Wallace on he field this year was ugly. He's not good at all. Highly penalized and can't pass block. If he was our regular starter and we didn't have Pouncey on IR we'd all be wanting a replacement fast. If someone was willing to vastly over pay for him, then maybe you think about it... But we'd be looking for a starting quality C, and we already have one that is a pro bowl/all pro. Why not just let that guy play?

I'm also not a fan of quickly dumping Foster. He's a good player for almost nothing against our cap. We don't have a young guy right now that is breaking down the door to start, so just re sign Foster for a year or two at or around league minimum and then draft a mid/late round G that you can coach up to be his replacement a year or two down the line. And no, I wouldn't consider replacing him with Wallace. I also think an early round G in the draft would be a mistake with all the other needs we have.

No doubt that Pouncey is one of the best centers in the league when he is healthy. But You got to wonder how much more he can take. IMHO the same can be said about L Bell.

I disagree. Wallace never cost us a game, and he is not as limited as Legursky was. Pouncey struggles against stout DT's just as much as other centers, and I often see him out running his RB blocking down the field before the play develops.

I'll be honest I kind of want to get rid of Pouncey if it wasn't for his contract.

Foster, god love him, is a great leader and locker room guy, but he could be massively upgraded for our new style of zone blocking.

Who the heck is this Pouncey you speak of?...I kid, i kid. Having good backups is a good thing. I see the big Pouncey payday as I see throwing the wallet at Cortez Allen.
Not that Pouncey isn't worth something and plays great and is a leader I just think he got paid a little too buck much for our bang.
I also think our great players helped bring in Munch. I'd count on him to make the call there.
