Is James going to be our main TE going forward?

Only I want to get his jersey as NFL Euroshop is doing a 'Cyber Monday' sale, but I'm a bit weary about him maybe being traded/cut in the offseason. I would get a Chris Boswell jersey (because I do love that kid), but I know that kickers get a much shorter lease.

I also enter with some trepidation because I got a Heath Miller jersey back in 2015 in what proved to be his last year.

 

Personally, if it weren’t for injuries McDonald would have passed him on the depth chart already. James is average at best at everything and easily replaceable.

 

James may be limited, but when he is on the field I see him contribute way more. He definitely has better hands, and can find the open zone just like Heath.

I think the coaching staff needs to start him moving forward.

 

For some reason when Ben throws it to him, I feel confident he is going to catch it. With Vance its like 50 to 50 chance he is going to catch it. I do like his blocking and his athletic ability.

 

If not the starter moving forward, I get the sense he's going to be around for a while. He ticks a lot of boxes that the Steelers like in a TE. So even if they look to get an upgrade at the position, I could see him being a solid second guy.

In short: do it. Get the shirt.

 

James has dropped passes each of the last two weeks.

 

Pretty sure he’s actually dropped more than McDonald, but people here won’t acknowledge that

Ha, I was going to say something similar in my post, but I think James has more upside than Tuman.

 

In the modern Steelers era, Mark Bruener was the best Steelers TE before Heath Miller was drafted. Before that, Eric Green. Bruener was more of a "tackle-lite" than a TE.

 

I was pissed the Steelers let Green get away.

Yes he probably has maybe dropped a few more, but he has a lot more thrown to him and has played more games then Vance. Dont get me wrong I want who is best for the team. Vance brings other things that are better then James. Better blocker, gets more separation, is faster and thicker, but better hands not so sure.

Don't get your comet about people here won't acknowledge that. What's your point.

 

I think James will be here but I think Steelers will have a high priority in the draft. Might be another Penn State TE mike gesicki.

I said James is better than McDonald before he came here. JJ is our best tight end period.
Also when I see Jessie Catch a TD I have "funk 49" by the James Gang on my desktop and I play it. Here it is.

 

I don't know about you guys but I have more faith in Jesses hands. Vance is a great blocker but I think he drops the ball more than outlaw.

Personally I feel the highest priority in the draft is Free Safety. Unless Ben retires. James , McDonald and Grimble are a pretty solid group.

 

We have the worst TEs in the NFL, McDonald stays injured and he has terrible hands anyway, james is just a C grade TE, tomlin keeps getting burned trading for TEs, fact is we havent come close to replacing heath miller yet, and we wont until we draft one with a high pick at least in the second round....

I doubt Shazier is going anywhere, so there is a jersey option IMO. I think Boswell will be here a long time.
