I think players have a little better understanding of this stuff than fans do.

In one of the last tapes that Walsh shot -- the 2002 AFC Championship Game against thePittsburgh Steelers -- the finished product includes sideline footage of the Pittsburgh coaches sending in signals, followed by a scan of the scoreboard that captures down, distance and game time, followed by two separate shots of the ensuing play, one from above the press box and the other from an end zone camera.

"The other seven tapes show the final product, which is a series of coaches' signals, followed by the play, followed by coaches' signals and then the next play -- all lined up one after another," said Levy, who represents Walsh. "So the final videotapes contain the opposing coaches' signals lined up directly with the play that was run, one after another."

Facts are stubborn things and the article has plenty of them. Is it a fact or is it not that the league stopped the practice of taping in 06 and did Jimmy Johnson say or not say that he had done it for years and didn't think it was even worth the time? Did he say other teams had been doing it as well? Yes. He did. So that begs the question which is are all the teams that done this also cheaters or is it just NE? If other teams done it, which Jimmy Johnson clearly states they did, they are also cheaters too right? Regardless of the source, that is the facts. I don't think Jimmy Johnson is a pats homer at all. I don't think Rod Woodson is either. Kurt Warner has said it's all overblown too.

All that is true but it is all about defensive signals. Radios were in QBs helmets well before 2001. Hines was just piling on because you know it is crazy to think another team might watch enough game film to know what play might be coming next.

The article I posted is full of facts too. And, Kurt Warner has actually come out during SB week and questioned the legitimacy of NE's victory over the Rams.

Since 1998 I think, but as per that article, there was still offensive signals to be stolen.

The thing about those tapes though is that it was actually legal at the time to do that. You were allowed to film. The league then sent out the memo saying that teamS, plural, had to stop doing it unless they were under a hood. That was in 2006 when the memo came out and then the pats got in trouble for filming outside the hood in the first week of 07. Interestingly enough, I read the other day that the guy that was taping the Jets game that day actually sold his Super Bowl ring for $17,000 not too long ago.

I didn't realize offensive signals were involved too. Why the hell would a team use them when a radio was available?

Dayuumn... Why y`all pilin` on the preacher?!?

Simple fact... If you ain`t cheatin`, you ain`t tryin!!!!

He takes it as gospel, just like all southern born bred boys do!!!... Just look at NASCAR...

Take every "competitive advantage", you can get!!!!

When their teams "break" the rules, they "modify" the rules...

    Always "pushing the envelope"...

Ya just gotta find something they haven`t outlawed yet.. and use it to your advantage.

Oh, that`s right, the NFL DID outlaw, pretty much everything the Pat`s did, BEFORE they did it...

I agree, that the "deflategate" thing, is a joke...

I can`t see it having an effect on the outcome of the game, when the Pat`s completley destroyed Indy, like they did.

If it was a one score, or maybe even two... then we could have this conversation...
    But,
They flat out, kicked their ass... to get to the Bowl...

I Don`t think footballs inflated a half pound under mandated pressure had much to do with the outcome of that game...

But, cheating`s cheating, right? If there was no advantage to be gained, why do it?.. Intent?

Whatever... they won, and that`s all that matters.

I`d like to see how a coach in Pittsburgh would fare, if they elected to throw that ball from the goalline, with a reliable runningback in the game?

Oh Yeah, we tried that with Bettis in Indy before, and Ben saved the day...

    To GET to the Bowl...

But, I`m sure we didn`t try to gain ANY competitive advantage, during that season, or any others?

Sloppy field, at Heinz, comes to mind...

I still think NE got lucky to dodge a bullet, and win that game, more than they "outplayed" the SeaSqwaks... ,
But, that`s life in the NFL, in the age of Parity...

    GO STEELERS!!!

Edit... And oh Yeah, I forgot to say, Thank You to all the board members who contributed to this thread, for some very enjoyable reading!!!:roflmao:

But on the Bettis fumble we DID make the "right" call and it STILL managed to almost blow up in our face. LOL. However, if the league didn't have an obsession with trying to give Peyton Manning games that play would have never happened because Troy's INT getting called back changed the complexion of that game completely. In the end justice prevailed but man I'm telling you I think I almost lost my religion in that game. LOL.

Revisionist history and unfounded half-story there.

They tried to lay sod over sod, because the field was chewed up. That just happened to be a bad idea as it didn't have time to integrate and the monsoon that rolled in absolutely killed the field.

The Rooney's had some trouble getting the right field in place, but I don't think there have been many complaints from the last few years after they got the right turf and schedule for re-sodding down..

You dont think they just started with deflating footballs for the Colts game do you? I'm fairly certain they have had some close games over the years. It doesn't just aid Marsha, it aids their RB's too.

And I don't know how on earth a sloppy field aids the Steelers, both teams are playing on it.

    Yeah, Blast, you`re right...

    The Cheatriots reputation precedes them,

That was just a drunk post...:herewego:

Y`all were havin so much fun, I felt I had to chime in, to let yinz know I read it!:lolol:

Seriously, I think every team in every sport takes as much advantage of the rules, as they can get away with,
and I don`t believe our Steelers are above that...

The field, was the only thing I could think of, that we been accused of, during recent times...

And Tomlin`s infamous "mis-step", that was brought up here..

I kinda find it laughable, that ANY team in ANY sport says they do no wrong...

If you ain`t taking advantage of every possible way to win...

You ain`t trying hard enuff to win...

Because, you can rest assured, the other teams are...

And I don`t believe we are high and mighty, or "Holier than thou", as some of our fans would believe...

    Yes.

The Rooneys have always tried to take the high road, and hold their players to a "higher standard", than the rest of the league, but, the truth is,

If a player is good for the team, we cut them more slack, than we would a late round draft pick. And we have drafted players with "character issues", high in the draft, if we felt they would help the team.

Just sayin, we like to believe we are "better than" the rest of the teams when it comes to character, but the truth is...

    Not So Much...

We will get rid of some "Bad Apples", quicker than some other teams, But we are certainly not immune to letting players with questionable reputations stay on the roster, if they are good at their job...

I just Don`t like the "holier than thou" attitude some of our fans have.

Are we better than some other teams about that?

    Undoubtedley...

But we are not perfect, either.

    GO STEELERS...

Keep picking the best players you can, to win us more Superbowls!!!

And keep staying away from the Manziels, Winstons, Suh`s, etc, and kick the trouble makers off the team, when they show up!!! (Hope that doesn`t include Bell!!!)

    EDIT...

BFT... Please don`t think the "holier than thou" comment was aimed at you!!!
    Because it was NOT!!!
I respect you, and when I use the term "preacherman", I don`t mean it in derogatory way.
It`s just kinda my slang, like "old lady".. I truly mean no disrespect, by it.
We need more people like you in our world.
You practice what you preach, and don`t try to force your opinion down other peoples` throat...
Unlike some other hypocrititical "Christians", I deal with on a daily basis... Just wanted to make that clear..:smiley1::thumbs_up:

When Tosh is your "go to" you've lost. A zero-talent putz and always has been.

I get it that some people will never, under any circumstances, give the Patriots for ever winning a legitimate Super Bowl. Even the Seattle game where the NFL oversaw everything.
But Belichick's a cheat so I don't count those two Giants Super Bowls in the 80's either, especially the one where Belichick must've no-doubt cheated when they upset the heavily-favored Bills.
But ya know, over the course of what amounts to 15 years now, they're probably a pretty good team.
At least Roethlisberger and Tomlin think so.
