I've been respectful. I've not been condescending. I've got a different opinion than most of the people here and I have a right to state it. I've not gotten personal and I've not been insulting. Sports always foster debate and to be perfectly honest I've brought up a lot of points that have totally disregarded and not addressed at all. The fact that I happen to think the pats are a good team and that Brady is a good qb doesn't detract from my Steelers fandom at all. I'm honestly pretty sick of people not being able to tolerate the contrary opinions of others. There's a double standard that exists within sports communities and the Steelers fanbase is not exempt from it. I've stated how other teams have cheated and that has been totally disregarded and people only want to pretend that it's just the pats. It's like the logic of people is that "yeah but they cheat DIFFERENTLY so they're bad". If Harbaugh had stepped on the field when AB was running one back we would never forgive that. Tomlin does it and no one wants to say it was bad they just "take him at his word" that he didn't do it on purpose. That's fine. I think he did do it on purpose but I still like him. I've stated that other teams have been caught juicing but no one refers to them as cheaters. No one will explain how one cheating is different from another. They just disregard that because it is inconvenient to the narrative they are trying to push. Another way of explaining it is to say they are hypocrites. You are a moderator. If you feel that I have crossed a line that has broken then state it and tell me to stop. I don't feel that I have and also don't even want to dignify some of the crude comments about "tissues" that have been directed at me. I like everybody here and that's the bottom line. If they can't tolerate a different opinion that is really not my problem but don't take it out on me.

How does it feel to be annoyed? :lolol:

Lighten up turtle. It's a Steelers message board, of course you are going to get ribbed for defending a hated team of this fan base.

Speaking for myself, I don't address some of the "points" you try to make while having a discussion because I feel you really try to make great leaps in logic to prove your "point". So I stick to the main topic at hand. I imagine others feel this way as to why they don't address them either.

I'm not defending them. I've said they done wrong but I just don't think it's that big of a deal. But I don't understand how it's a "leap" to say that other teams cheated, which multiple teams have been caught doing illegal things, but aren't called "cheaters". I've just never understood why there seems to be this double standard. Well, actually I do. It's sports. I bare no ill will. Everybody should know that about me. I just think it's odd that Belichick is in people's heads to the point that they literally think he could have infiltrated every stadium on Sundays to record signals on people. That's more what I would call a "leap". When people are saying that he stole signals and were acting like he did that for every team he played and then I say "when" did he do it that's a valid question. No one wants to answer it because it destroys the narrative that's trying to be built. I didn't bring up spygate. Other people did. I was just asking a question in response to it. I henceforth refer to this as "deflect-gate". LOL. I love you anyway and you're still my boy.

I've never heard that Bellichick "stole signals" from every team, just heard accusations from teams that the Pats played in important games. Playoffs, AFCC, Superbowl... When you bring up "juicing", it was not banned in the 70s so the Lyle Alzados of the league weren't cheating.
You can tell that you don't live in San Diego. Here, the team from up north are referred to by most as "The dirty, lying, cheating Raiders!" Most Charger fans consider the Broncos to be cheaters because of the cut blocks that they used. When I was a young, DUMB Charger fan, I used to see the Chiefs cheat at every S.D. home game so, It's not just your beloved coach B and Brady that are cheaters. They've just been caught at it more.

Ok! Fine, I'll address them :lolol:

I never saw anyone claim he infiltrated every stadium on Sundays. But he was proven guilty in spygate, he made a pre-meditated decision to cheat and gain an advantage over his opponents.

I don't know how you equate Tomlin stepping onto the field of play as the same as what Belichick has done. Lets just say for argument sake that Tomlin did it on purpose, I don't see how a lapse in judgment in the heat of the moment is the same as scheming to cheat your opponents on an ongoing basis.

On the topic of steroids, I have no idea what the NFL's policy on it is, I'm totally ignorant on the subject because steroids in football doesn't phase me like it does in baseball. You are talking about gigantic men, I just assumed they were all doing something in one form or another. And thats today, was there even rules against it in the 70's?

The fact is, NE has been involved with 2 cheating scandals and I believe a 3rd as well, I'm convinced they taped the Rams walk through. But we'll even leave that out of it since it wasn't proven. That still leaves spygate and deflategate on their resume, do you honestly believe these are the only two times they have attempted to cheat? This is just what we know about. I believe Bellichick and even Brady are people who will do whatever it takes to secure victory in their favor, and that includes not just skirting the rules but flat out breaking them. Because of this, I will never look at NE in the same light as you. Are they a great team? Certainly, but are they as great as they have appeared to be? I think not so much, case in point, I believe they would not have gone undefeated had they been playing on a level field, because I don't believe for a second they just decided to deflate footballs for the Colts game. Is that fair? Maybe, maybe not but they brought that cloud of suspicion on themselves by cultivating an environment of cheating.

I was just ragging on you prior, no offense, bro-hug

What other team has been anywhere near the magnitude of cheating scandal that the Patriots have?

I don't think the majority of people think they stole everyone's signals. I don't think many people even say that. Your debate strategy of inundating your opponent with obscure questions they aren't responsible for knowing the answers to isn't lost on me. :lolol:

In my honest opinion I think after Cleveland, Belichick made the choice to never have that sort of experience again no matter the cost. He was never going to be unprepared again and if that meant hiring guys to get him tape, tape he wasn't supposed to have then so be it. I don't think Spygate changed that, we know he wasn't sorry for anything he was accused of because when Goodell said Belichick was going to apologize he flat out said umm No I'm not I never agreed to that. A man who is that obsessive about planning and working and creating that culture of winning despite bending or breaking the rules doesn't just stop that would be like an alcoholic stopping drinking then working in a bar, the temptation is just too great. I often joke that I think he has a Bruce wayne type set-up at the Pats facility where he tilts back the head on Krafts bust and the bookcase swings out and he has a room filled with miles and miles of tape. Of course in this day and age you could fit 20 years of game film on one server and get HD quality video from a smart phone. So yes I believe they did deflate the balls because they thought it would give them an edge and I still believe they record other teams whenever and wherever possible.

But the point is that cheating is cheating and the "magnitude" doesn't matter. They were fined for one game in spygate. Is that not the case? They were fined for taping the Jets from a prohibited angle. Goodell and Jimmy Johnson flat out acknowledged that teamS have done that for years. Mangini even said the he didn't mind them filming and didn't want it to get to the proportion it got to. He said he just didn't want them to do it in his stadium. That's pretty hardcore double speak. Yes some have said that he stole from every team. Steel1031 is a good buddy of mine and he said that. He's entitled to that opinion and I stated why I don't think it's the case. I think taking roids is much more of an issue because it clearly can give you an immediate advantage on the field over a guy that does things by the rules. I think stepping on the field is also worse because it can alter the outcome of a game with huge ramifications going forward. Nothing has been proven about this deflate thing but the kangaroo courts have commenced based on the fact that a team got fined doing something in one game 8 years ago. I think Bill was wrong to break the rules but I just don't see how he gains that much of an advantage from it. That's really the mystery of the whole thing to me. If, as you said, someone doesn't "know" the answers too, then what they are saying is just as much conjecture as what I am saying right?

BFT I know you are fond of Brady and BB but you are being either hopelessly naive or purposely ignoring the full details. It wasn't an isolated incident of stealing the Jets signals nine years ago. it was six tapes of multiple teams that included team practices, walk throughs and numerous other things. Now before the matter could be properly investigated Goodell had declared Kraft had turned over all the tapes and they were destroyed and Goodell made his ruling, something that BB didn't agree with. that is why the stain of cheating remains because Goodell destroyed the evidence, told people what was on it and didn't allow for a neutral party to look into the matter. BB doesn't help his case because he was unapologetic and should no remorse. Heck Sean Peyton took his suspension with grace and said I'm the HC the responsibility is mine.

I'm I think what happened in baseball will happen here.some bored senator will haul this before a subcommittee for challenging the integrity of the game and NE could see there titles stripped from them.

The thing about walk throughs was retracted though. That was never corroborated and all the other tapes were supposed to have been supplied by that Walsh guy that had an ax to grind. I think it was wrong for them to break the rules. I just don't see how they really gained that much of an advantage by filming teams that they were gonna play maybe once every few years and I don't think Spygate aided them in any way in any of the SB's they won back in the day. I just don't see how it helped them DURING the game to do that. Did people think they were playing the tapes back really quick and then relaying the signals to Bill or Weiss or Crenell or whoever and then telling that to the captain of the d in his headset or what? What I'm saying is how did they really make significant gains during the game by what they were doing? That's why I've always thought that former players and coaches that said it wasn't a big deal came to their conclusion on it. I think they see it the way I do in that it wasn't something that was gonna help gain an immediate advantage is all. I'm honestly asking how it helped them during the game. If it helped them during the game then it is a VERY big deal and I would be right with you. It just seems to me that they were taking them for future reference but don't teams change their signals all the time? Also filming has existed for a LONG time and even George Allen thought the cowboys were filming their practices. Maybe they were or weren't but a lot of times I think guys are suspicious about other teams because they know they've done some dubious things themselves. Again I believe it was wrong for the pats to do what they did but I just don't think it gave them a huge advantage is all I'm saying. Do you think it gave them a huge advantage?

No it wasn't, just a news organization that ran the story retracted it. There was also 8 tapes but only 6 were turned in. Ram players said they put in new plays the day of the suspected taping, the day BEFORE the SB and that Belichick had checks for it, is he now clairvoyant as well? And if true, does it matter if the employee had an ax to grind?

As for spygate, you keep asking how much it helps them but obviously it gives them an advantage or why do it? Football is a gamer of inches, 1 play can make or break a game.

You know the most confounding thing? Your a Preacher! I'd think you'd be condemning them :lolol:

Hmmm....what would be the advantage of taping your opponent's practices before a playoff game?

    Can't think of any.

Are you Arabic? Are you Japanese? Laotian? Vietnamese? Like, what language do I need to say "I believe what they did is wrong" for it to register on the computer? LOL. I do believe that what they did was wrong but just don't believe they gained a huge advantage from it. Actually I don't know how they gained any advantage from it. I'm curious how they taped people, watched the tapes, then used the tapes against people all in the same game. I could see how MAYBE it would help to do it if you were playing a team again but for the game at hand I just don't see how it could make a difference. Also if the Rams walkthrough tapes were actually true why would the paper retract it?

    I speak Ork, nanu nanu.

Not sure if they were used during the same game, I suppose something could be done at halftime but you play your division opponents more then once and then there is also the possibility of meeting an opponent in the playoffs again.

The paper was just covering their ass, didnt want a lawsuit.

Read that article and it will really put things in perspective. The div games are the one where I think you could make a case that it helped them but they were never allowed to use the tapes they got in 07 and they've been better since then.

Bet the homer that wrote that article failed to see they may be cheating in other ways, like deflated footballs, bet the homer never saw that one coming and I'm sure he dismisses the fact that it aided them in anyway, such as going 16-0.

Don't send me homer articles, they prove nothing :lolol:

And Roooney is just taking the high road, Bettis believes 100% they cheated their way past the Steelers, he calls them known felons.

Which was foolish at the time and is still foolish. Pat's were taping defensive signals, offensive plays were radioed in even back then.

Interesting that members of the Chargers said similar things as the Steelers after their AFCC game in Foxboro. Maybe the Pats were bugging the Chargers radios?
