His marriage: Not to appease us, but possibly to deflect. People get married for all kinds of bad reasons in real life AND celebrity life. Why can't he be in this category. It seems his word is the only word you trust. Idolizing too much?

Funny how when it suits your argument, it's ok but when I said in our last debate that women lie about rape, you said it has no bearing on the GA incident. Yet people get married for all kinds of bad reasons so it of course means Ben did too. Pot, meet kettle. And idolizing? Don't make me laugh, I own one jersey that I got when I was around 21, a Rod Woodson jersey. I don't idolize, dont' care about autographs, don't get awe struck around musicians (I've met several, friend is in the biz). It's posible that I just have an objective outlook where as you have publically admitted your dislike for Ben. Wonder which is biased here

Yup, it's like he keeps brushing up against a wound that's trying to heal. But it can't, and not because of natural biochemic and mental efforts to try and do so (you seem to not take me at my word, oh well). Maybe I am hyper sensitive to it now and maybe not. Yes, this is NOT positive off season press. That's a fact.

More proof you are irrational towards Ben. The GA incident, Nevada, motorcycle accident is bad press. Ben answering questions differently then how you would like is just you nit picking and looking for reasons to dislike him further.

Just look at the comments and answers the other players are saying VS. his and tell me you don't hear a different level of commitment, cohesion and team spirit. Or would you rather honesty and drama? I don't think it helps this team one bit. He's a vocal distraction and not a vocal leader in this respect. You might like it, but I'm def in the camp that doesn't.

Yup, I totally want honesty, the drama is in yours and the medias head, not my problem. I truly have no idea why you and others listen to interviews when all you want to hear is a canned response, I hate pc, keep it the f--k away from me, I want to hear what they really think.

Unless as the poster who above you said the "frustrating" statement is more about his personal inability to wrap his head around the system right now rather than his opinion of the system and it's direction. That I can totally understand since he has arguably the most to learn and I give him a pass there (it's your choice to believe me or not). I guess I shouldn't hope that in his 8th season he wouldn't be able to master clarity about such things that can misconstrued. Or learn to clarify and re-phrase a comment once/if it's been spun.

It wouldn't matter if he did, you wouldn't give him credit anyway, look at how you trash his marriage as a charade to improve public image. You'll find anything and everything to use and beat this guy down. You are not objective or fair when it comes to Ben at all, you aren't kidding anyone here by saying otherwise.

Look, your tone is so irrationally combative, while I try (I hope) to come off as conversational. Just with a point of view. Chill...

Anyway, you can say I trashed his marriage while I said the timing was iffy, as in fishy. Vuala - a mountain from a mole hill.

I don't see the connection for what I said about his accusation cases and my marriage comments. Not even going to try and grapple that one.

Bad press - this seasons 3 things (Haley non-meeting, frustrating, and his system. Other than not blowing it off, I'm just talking about it during OTA's on a Steelers message board. Sue me. Is it HUGE? No. Is it interesting to analyze? For me, yeah.

I don't want to dislike him. I don't hope for it. I would love for it to turn around. He did a great job in his interview today on ESPN. Boring and unifying sounding. That gives me hope things are on the right track. Boooorrrriiiinnnnggggg....

I wouldn't ever give him credit? Based on one long internet conversation and a few other posts? You're wrong, I give him credit for lots of things. In fact, I would have been proven if this response didn't coincide with the short and very good interview he gave just moments ago on ESPN.

Mr. Objective, I am not trying to win you over or pull the wool over anyone's eyes. That's silly, I'm not trying to build a boys club and I don't try and to alienate other people with harsh internet BS stuff either. I'm honest and I try to keep it civil. I might happen to have nuanced opinions with some abstractions that you can't deal with, but I don't care. Everything isn't black and white dude. Some things are complicated and I'm inclined to change my mind based on evidence and not speak in sound bites. Quick knee jerk reactions is not how I usually formulate things or spit them out.

I think it depends on whether it's followed by a noun.

    Ah, off season.

As opposed to what? Maybe my brain isn't working, but I can't think of another way to use it.

Hmm, interesting point. I always thought it was in the adjective family, specifically a definite article, regardless of what followed immediately after. I don't believe that changes if an adjective follows, for example.

Hmm, having thought about it, I might be applying the rule for "this" rather than "the". Ignore me.

I haven't been any more combative the you have and to date, I don't recall calling you a name as you did to me in our last conversation when you referred to me as a homer. I think you're alright old school, so I'm not going to let this turn into a feud, I think we actually agree on most other topics, we just strongly disagree when it comes to Ben. As I strongly disagree with everything you just said in your last response, so I'm just going to leave it at that. I don't know what it is with Steeler fans, there is always a portion of fans that hate our star QB, Bradshaw was hated by many Steeler fans too, he probably took more abuse then Ben has. That's just such a bizarre concept to me, I would hate to be in that boat, must be bitter sweet rooting for a guy every Sunday that is so instrumental in the outcome of the game.

T.E do you think Ben is being honest when he answers these question? Because I think he is answering them a tad more towards the PC than being brutally honest. Like the comments about Wallace, to me those comments weren't his honest opinion but rather his attempts at being a team leader and saying the right things. I think if he was being honest he would say it is kind of disheartening to see guys on the team restructuring their deals in order to get the cap space to make Wallace and offer and instead of signing his tender and continuing to work towards a long term deal he is holding out. That would make me mad and I would voice some disappointment at a teammate over it. That would be honesty and not the response Ben is giving.

I don't think I'd call "homer" a name in the truest sense of "a name". It's not mean in spirit. I know I'm a homer about all kinds of things regarding our team. I was too young to ever have any issue with Bradshaw's personality. I actually really like the guy. I even stoop up for Ben up to the GA thing happened. And well after the NV one. I also looked past the helmet situation and I think all riders should wear one, but I understand many don't like to ride with one. Even though it just never makes good sense to me. Do not compute...

It is bitter sweet for sure. I have to root for the player. There are lots of players who I liked watching and didn't like as a person as far as I could tell.

I do, I think he's being honest there. No way Ben feels different, because he is a player, and when it comes to contract situations, no one is going to call out another player for trying to make as much money as they can. Don't forget, Wallace hasn't gotten his big payday, Ben and the others who restructured already got their big contracts. Plus, restructuring isn't taking a pay cut, it's changing when you get paid, in most cases I think anyway.

I hate Ben as much as the next guy and I think some of his comments about the new offence have been very dumb and selfish, but I gotta say some of you are reaching here. I don't know if calling it "his" offence is really worthy of such a discussion.

Ben is going to love Haley just fine when his stat line looks like this on the night of 9/9: 20-27-275-3-0.
